Internet marketing 101 – 10 ways to promote your website online

November 27, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

Internet marketing is a highly fluid profession, but there are several techniques that never go out of style. Combined with the new, innovative approaches being developed every day, these techniques can dramatically improve your company’s internet marketing success!

Article Marketing has become a powerhouse way to spread helpful information and reel in traffic from across the web. When you write helpful articles and submit them to article banks, directories and ezine publishers, more people become aware you exist, and from there become impressed at your knowledge in your niche.

Blogging initially became popular in the late 1990’s, when online journalism was all the rage. Now blogs have become an important marketing tool, allowing companies to reach out informally and draw in visitors who can later be converted to customers. You can use your bog to make yourself more accessible. Free blogging platforms like Google Blogger and WordPress make blogging easy and fun.

Ezines can be used for more focused publicity – these are generally aimed at a particular niche. You can even start your own to develop a closer relationship with your readers. Provide helpful information and resources, and they will come to trust you and rely on you for advice. Just limit advertising and hard sales copy!

Networking is another tool that can get you close to your target demographic as well as in touch with other professionals who can help you achieve your goals. Connect with others in your field to share information and encourage each other.

Online Email Groups exist for nearly every conceivable niche. You can find them on major search engine forums such as Yahoo or Google, or start your own and invite people you know to participate and brainstorm.

Forums are a terrific outlet for establishing yourself as an authority. The trick is to not overdo it – simply offer help when needed and don’t try to push your agenda unasked – no-one likes a spammer. Follow the rules for posting and offer your help as much as possible.

Social Media such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and even MySpace are all good places for connecting to people and establishing your brand. Creating multiple online profiles and updating them consistently will build your reputation and ensure you are visible.

Photo and video sharing or pod casting can increase your chances of ‘going viral’ and having your product or service garner national or international attention. You can hire an established agency to help you, or venture into the digital world yourself to create material, then publish it online.

Bookmarking sites also allow you to share things you want others to know – and if you learn how to tag effectively, you can increase traffic to your product or service. The best thing about bookmarking, sharing and social sites is that others carry on the work you begin!

Advertising cannot be left off the list. If you learn to craft effective, targeted ads, the return on investment will more that justify the cost. A solid ad campaign combined with the above organic online marketing techniques will boost your traffic and conversion to levels your company may not have believed possible!

The bonus tip of the day is to use SEO in all you do – every piece of content you create and share should contain your main keywords at least once or twice. This keeps your theme consistent across all marketing platforms!

Building a blog ping list

November 18, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

Ping lists for blogs. If you have a personal or business blog, it is necessary to ping after you post a new article. Pinging a blog will contact Yahoo and other search bots that a new article has been added to your site. When they are notified, the ping service providers will send a spider to read your new post within seconds depending on their traffic load.Blog ping definition.By definition, a blog ping is a notification to a search provider that a blog has been updated. A ping is basically an XML message that contains the url address of the blog. Most blog news sites have separate internet addresses for accepting pings, so testing your ping list is very important. The Good Versus The Bad.The Good News: Pinging a blog is often good, because the more you ping, the more exposure you’ll get to your blog post. As a result, many of the ping service providers will remember your URLs listed on their service and republished them. The Cons: The more you ping your website, your server will become slower. If your blog ping list is more than fifty providers, your server load can get really high. Another downside is that most of the providers ping the same search bots. This can be bad for your site because you can potentially ping Google too many times and it looks like your a spammer. So a good blog ping list is important to your site.Wordpress Blog PingingAs a default, the WordPress engine pings one service automatically called Ping-o-matic. Ping-o-matic is not a good provider by itself because it is simply outdated. This is because it does not ping all of the newer services you need to syndicate your blog and get it spidered right. Wordpress also pings every time you update your site, revise a post, which isn’t good because you could potentially look like a spammer and get blacklisted. How To Build A Good Ping List. Here are a few things you need to take note during the building of your ping list. Keep in mind that a ping list doesn’t last an eternity, so you should check and update your list as often as possible.Note 1: Find a base ping list. I found a great recommended providers list located at this site. Ping List For BlogsStep 2: Find new ping providers. You should add to your base list by doing some research based on your market niche, language, and country online. You can also email other established sites within your market and ask them for advice. If you search the right places you should be able to find more information on available ping service providers to add to the base list.Step 3: You should remove any non-working services from your list. This step is very important. You should begin by checking each provider by visiting their site. Pay attention to the service and area they provide to. If you have found that the website is no longer in service then simply remove it from your list.It is recommended that you pay attention to your service list and regularly and check the providers websites to make sure they’re working. Proper maintenance of your provider list will keep your content spidered and increase your blog’s visibility in the search engines.

Viral Twitter Marketing Phenomenon

Twitter has been exploding as of late and many marketers are trying to take advantage of this huge social networking phenomenon by building massive Twitter followings.

The thing that they don’t seem to get though is that even if they do have over 2 or 3 thousand followers, they still can generate little to no results simply because self promotion isn’t effective anymore.

If you claim that your product is the best one on the market, what makes you different from the rest? Everyone claims his products are best. There is a reason why the real Twitter masterminds never abuse Twitter and still generate insane amount of traffic, leads and sales with it.

Self Promotion = SPAM

Self promotional tweets will probably result in you looking like a spammer. No wonder, it’s not the way you do Twitter Marketing.

You can hope your tweets will go viral, but let’s face it – you’ll have to be really-really good at “Twitter Copywriting” and deliver an insane amount of value in order for someone to go the extra mile of copying, pasting and clicking the update button.

Twitter Clients

Sure, a lot of Tweeple do use clients with an option of an easy ReTweet, but one very valuable thing I have learned throughout my internet marketing career is to NEVER MAKE ASSUMPTIONS.

According to a study conducted by ReadWriteWeb.com, Over 56% of Twitter users still use Twitter.com to send out tweets. The rest 44% are using all sorts of different Twitter clients. The picture below displays the exact statistics.

Key Takeaway: Twitter.com is a good enough for the majority of Twitter users. That means that if you are relying on someone to ReTweet your content, than there is more than 50% chance that he will have to go through quite a hustle in order to do that.

Viral Twitter Software

Using Viral Twitter Software will increase your content’s chances of going viral because:

  1. The tweet with your link in it will not be coming from you. It will be coming from another person which makes your content much more valuable in the eyes of the receiving party, since it was recommended by someone other than you.
  2. The tweet will be going outside of your reach. While your tweets are only visible to your followers, if someone else ReTweets your content, it goes far beyond your maximum zone of reach.
  3. The process of ReTweeting is very simple. No need in “copy, paste, update” sequence. It is either a one button ReTweet or “enter your twitter username and password” operation.

Recommended Tools

  • ReTweet Wordpress Plugin. If you are into blogging, you’ll love this tool.
  • ReTweetNow. Viral Twitter Script which you can install on any website, blog or page. Moreover, according to it’s developer, you can integrate the ReTweetNow with your autoresponder.

The funny thing is that ReTweetNow’s total equivalent – ViralTweets, actually costs $47 while having the exact same features as the ReTweetNow does…LOL!

How Does Twitter Make You Money

November 5, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

Everyone these days is using Twitter, it’s like the best way to keep in touch with friends and family all the time. By now, especially if you’re a member, you must have wondered at least once, could I earn money with Twitter?

First of all, you have to realize that Twitter has rules. Break them and your account will be closed. When you are ready to make money with Twitter, don’t blatantly promote your products or services. Some people could think that you are trying to spam them.

You should go out of your way to contribute to the community. This will help you quickly grow your subscribers via word of mouth. It’s not a good idea to mention your product to your followers every time you send a tweet.

The time you tweet is VERY IMPORTANT! You dont want to tweet if no one is online reading the tweets right? Right :) Wouldn’t it be perfect to know when the most popular time is to tweet when the most people are online?

Another great way to help grow your followers- which is the name of the game – is by posting your Twitter profile or a “follow me” button everywhere you possibly can. For instance, you can post it on your blog, your website, in an email signature and even in your forum profiles.

The most evident way of this money making process is, by means of direct advertising. A word of caution here.. Be careful not to be qualified as a spammer, the untold rule is very simple, try the rest of the people, as you would like to be treated. Deliver content, quality content, as opposed to just affiliated links. And please, do not misunderstand me, it is OK to send affiliate links, just don’t overuse them.

What will help you make a lot money on Twitter is to make sure the people who are following you have some of the same interests as you. You will be able to tell if they’re interested if they’re replying to your tweets or clicking on the links you provide them.

It is not necessary to have a gigantic following in order to make money with Twitter. It’s better to have followers that have the same interests than hundreds of followers that are not interested in cultivating a relationship with you on your Twitter site.

The question I am most often asked is if I make money on Twitter. The answer is yes, but not by simply tweeting the link to something that is for sale. The very best way to earn income from Twitter is to let people get to know you and how you can help them to achieve their goals. Once they see that you truly care about them and what they need, they are more likely to do business with you. Spend some time on this site and get connected with people. You’ll be glad you did.

The first thing you’re going to need to do if you want to make money off of the people following you. There’s a simple way to get a lot of people to follow you who will be interested in your tweets. Find out more about Twitter To Make You Money

Avoiding Twitter Spam

November 3, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

Tweeples will tell you either how fantastic or fickle Twitter can be – sometimes both. Getting the most out of the service isn’t difficult and you can start by culling any spam from your feed and avoiding it in the future.

Don’t Be Followed by Spammers
Following thousands, speaking in keywords and sporting no followers (except maybe one or two other spammers); it’s quite easy to spot Twitter spammers. Look out for the automatically generated usernames which are often used. For example, “A1C2eQQQ is now following you on Twitter”. Make sure to block these types of accounts as soon as possible so they cannot follow you.

Being followed by one of these accounts doesn’t mean you’ll be seeing their messages, but you don’t want to be retweeted by them or be seen in anyway as an easy target for other spam account holders.

Never retweet a spam message or even tweet the name of a supposed spammer, even in jest – this just makes you easier to find.

Avoid Bad Programs and Money Making Schemes
Make sure you take every step to avoid Twitter spam or malevolent attention. It is important that you never give your Twitter username out on questionable third-party sites. You may be tempted by the ‘triple your followers’ promise, but doing so will inevitably land you on a list of targets.

Don’t use auto-follow bots or any other automated programs. An automated email to new followers can be effective in greeting the masses, but Twitter is all about transparency and real conversations. Leave auto-responders to the spammers.

Websites such as Retweet.it promise you more followers, and may deliver, but the value of your tweets will be watered down and your audience may not appreciate your influence and ‘unfollow’ you.

Choose your Twitter tools carefully. There are many programs and services out there, but some hold more water than others. Here are some handy tools to simplify your life:
• TweetDeck – Twitter browser, compatible with Linux, Mac and Windows.
• Twhirl – Desktop client which uses the Adobe AIR platform, compatible with Mac and Windows.
• TwitterFeed – Made to feed blog posts via RSS into Twitter. Very handy for frequent bloggers.
• TwitterFox – A Firefox add-on with popup notifications.

5 Steps to Abundant Web Traffic and Backlinks Using News Popularity Sites

November 3, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

Social media news popularity sites like digg, reddit, mixx, etc. are the latest sources for huge traffic, backlinks and search engine marketing. If your post hits the front page of one of these sites, you will get thousands of visitors, hundreds of back links, and repeat visitors to your blog.

However, it is not easy to hit the front page of these sites. Every day, hundreds of people submit thousands of articles to these sites but none of them make it to the front page.

Most of the articles submitted to these sites are spam, of very low quality and self promoting marketing materials. The regular visitors of these sites demand good quality, informative, fact filled, and funny contents. Contents that attack a different angle to old materials may also do fairly well.

By following the five steps described in this article, you will be able to reap the benefits of traffic and back links to your site without wasting time and efforts.

1. Know your audience. The first step to creating posts that get the attention of the visitors of these sites is to study the front page stories on these sites. Different sites cater to different tastes. Find out the type of contents that are popular in each site. For example, stories dealing with technology, liberal politics, and entertainment do well on digg.

If you are writing a story that does not quite match the popular topics of the site, you need to create an angle for satisfying the taste of the site’s audience. For example, conservative politics does not do well in digg but if you can talk about religion in politics in an entertaining way, it may get more votes than a serious post on why religion should be a part of politics.

2. Announce your presence. Sign up for a few sites and create your profile with authentic information about you.  Include your blog links in your profile.  Upload a picture so that everybody knows you are a real person, not an unknown spammer and scammer.

3. Drum up your post. Use some visual cues, like a digg button, on your high quality posts. This invitation helps your site visitors to submit your stories to the news popularity sites easily. Don’t use these buttons for every post. You don’t want every post submitted to these sites. If you submit every post, regular visitors of these news popularity sites will consider you as a spammer.

4. Create a friends network. Locate a dozen submitters, preferably bloggers in your niche, whose posts regularly appear on the front page. These submitters know what succeeds on the site and they spend lots of time finding stories that are likely to get votes. They also compete for stories to submit to these sites before anybody else.

Include these power submitters in your friend network and read stories submitted by these users. If you find a story interesting, positively vote on the story. Post comments on these stories.

Find out the sources of the stories of the power submitters. Subscribe to these sources using your RSS reader and set up Google alerts for news items related to the topics. If you find a story that matches the criteria, submit it before anybody else.

5. Share your stories. Once you have established yourself as a positive contributor to these sites, invite a few power submitters to read your high quality post and comments on it. Use twitter and instant messages for taking your networking efforts with the power submitters to the next level. Not all of your network friends in the news popularity site will respond positively. However, you will find a few who are willing to share their insights with you.

Announce your best posts to your twitter followers and inform about them to power submitters using instant messages. Don’t do it for every post. It will annoy the recipients and they will abandon your as fast as they can.

If some of your twitter followers are bloggers who are interested in your post, one of them may create a post spun off of your article and provide a link to your original story. If this happens within a few hours of you publishing your post, it will boost the quality of your story.

Getting your stories into the front pages of news popularity sites is hard work and time consuming. If you want to invest the time and efforts, the reward in terms of traffic and backlinks can be worth it.

Blogging Tips for the DubLi Associate

October 27, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

Blogging has become a rapidly growing trend online home business owners can leverage to grow their business.  As the blogging phenomenon continues to move forward, more DubLi associates are seeing success in mentoring to downline reps and attracting new prospects.  The following tips will help in launch your own DubLi blog.

Use your email address.  Today, blogging is overcoming the e-mail’s popularity in quickly and effectively reaching and expanding a market.  In this age of speed and quick access, logging in and downloading e-mail is simply taking longer than clicking into a blog site.  Let them explore your site by using a short e-mail message as teaser to your blog site.  If your e-mail is on an entirely different subject, use your e-mail signature to give a link to the site.

Subscriptions.  An easy way to get your readers e-mail is to give them an opportunity to subscribe to your blogsite.  Keep some exclusive information for your subscribers to entice readers to subscribe and give their e-mail address.  Just be responsible in using their e-mail address, as the last thing you want is a comment on your blog that you are a spammer.

Understanding your readers.  Conduct a simple survey for your readers to understand their profile and advertising preferences.  Ask consumers to give you feedback on a post, an ad link, or a trial that you shared.  In this way, it is like interviewing your readers without the commitment and intrusion of a face-to-face interview.

Join a blog network.  A network of blogs maybe a collection of blog sites that share the same industry, interest, readership base, payment mode, etc.  Consumers find credibility and convenience in clicking one link to several real bloggers about a single subject.  Clearly, more bloggers are better than one.

Including RSS.  RSS is the fastest growing technology on the Internet today due to its integral role in viral marketing.  Offering your RSS feed to your blog is a fantastic means of generating awareness for your readership base.  Using a ping service to ping your RSS feed will disperse your blog link to the search engines, thus increasing the likelihood of your blog being indexed in google.

Will Automated Trackback Submitters to Get YouTargeted Website Traffic?

October 26, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

The answer to the question of why automated trackback submitters are not good tools to use when you want targeted website traffic, all depends on whom you ask. Of course, if you check with any of these auto submitters, they will recommend that you use their services.

However, if you check with people who have used automated trackback submitters trying to get the targeted website traffic they are seeking, they will probably advise against you using them. Why are they not good tools? The main reason is because if you use their services, at some point, you will be labeled as a spammer and maybe even removed from the index of the search engines.

A trackback is one of three methods used by web authors, so that they get notified when other web authors follow a direct path or link to one of their documents. These are used to keep track of who is looking at their articles. When you use one of the automated trackback submitters, they look at the keywords for your targeted website traffic. Then they find your keywords on any site they can, even if it is pornography or another site that is not related to your target audience; and they link them back to your page.

The result is that people who have absolutely no interest in your product at all are sent to your website. Your website ranking can actually drop as a result, and there is a possibility that your site would be totally removed from the index.

Be careful yourself, when searching for these sites. Remember, when you arrive at one of these sites or services, you are a targeted website visitor. As such, the testimonials will be very enticing, and probably convincing since you were looking for a traffic solution.

These testimonials may or may not be real. But consider, you don’t know when they were posted, what site they were operating, and even if the site is still available. The testimonial provider’s site may well be long gone, have been buried as a spammer.

Another automated service to avoid when trying to increase your targeted website traffic is automated content generators. No matter what they say on their advertisement page or how good of a deal they are willing to make, avoid these at all costs. You are better served to hire a writer to give you original content for your own use than to use their service not knowing how many other businesses have chosen the same keywords and received the same exact content for their use. This would make the content of both definitely not original content!

The third service you should avoid like the plague is that of search engine submitter services. Not only will they not improve your ranking, but they don’t even help to get you indexed.

Don’t waste your time or money on any of these three services when you are trying to locate targeted website traffic.
