Promoting Your Business Blog

November 19, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

Once you start blogging, which should be as soon as the blog is set up, you should start promoting your blog.

Most bloggers do not realize that while their blog is very much visible to them, it is practically invisible to everyone else. That is because it is only another one among millions upon millions of blogs. To be exact, just a newcomer among tens of millions of blog.

Obviously, only those websites and blogs that stand out for some reason or other will be noticed. The rest will remain part of the crowd. Thus your next goal should be to make your blog visible — to make it stand out among the millions. This is to be done with the help of the search engines.

Just as one searches for the name-plate in a neighborhood with similar houses, or the names displayed in front of shops and malls, most people reach websites for the first time by searching through search-engines. Once the find a site useful, some of them might ‘bookmark’ which will help them to come repeatedly to your site. However, getting found is more important that getting bookmarked because people cannot bookmark a site unless the reach a site. Here we face a second problem

I am sure that you have set up your blog or blogs in certain specific niches. However, just setting them up does not lead to “recognition” by the search engines. Unless the search engines recognize your blog/s as belonging to those niches, they will keep displaying other sites which were “close” to the niche before your blog/s came on the scene. Thus the next step is to make search-engines aware of your blog/s and also tell them the niche to which it belongs.

Major Search Engines: There are thousands of search engines, but just a handful of them get more than 80% of the traffic. It is in these that you should get registered first. These are:

Google

AltaVista

MSN

Yahoo

Thus as soon as two to three posts are there on your blog you should visit them and submit them to these sites. Usually you will see a “Submit Your Site” link somewhere. If not, you can always search “submit site in Google” kind of phrase for each engine and you will get the link.

These search engines then send an automated “spider” which is a software that collects comprehensive information about the website/blog. What is more, if you keep posting on a regular interval such as daily or on alternate days, the spider will come to your site almost every day. This will update your site fast in search engines, and will also create a priority for listing your blog because it is perceived as an “active” blog in its niche.

Major Directories: Search engines send spiders and catalog your website/blog on an ongoing basis. However, directories are created by paid or voluntary human editors. The major directories include

DMOZ

MSN

Yahoo

Netscape

Google

You should go to the first three and submit your website manually to them in the proper category. The last two (and thousands of other specialized directories) take data from the first one. Thus once your blog is accepted by the first one, it will automatically appear in the last two and also in many more directories.

Keep working on the visibility. Success is not very far!

6 Reasons Why You Need to Have a Blog With Your Website

November 19, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

Blogs are powerful marketing tools that can help you reach more customers, establish credibility, increase sales, and share company news without having a huge advertising budget.

Blogs have a number of advantages that make them highly effective in promoting your business:

1. You don’t have to be a tech geek to start a blog.

Anyone can do it, and sites like Blogger can help you create and publish your blog in less than 5 minutes.

2. Blogs can boost your search engine ranking.

The content of your blog is ripe for the search engines and encourages other bloggers who write on similar topics to link to you. Regularly updated, keyword-rich content (not spam) and linking will help boost your site’s visibility and in turn attract more customers.

3. Blogs offer multiple ways to deliver your message. If you’re not the best writer, you can start an audio or video blog and can therefore still reach your customers in a personal way.

4. Blog posts encourage immediate responses from your customers.

Questions, comments and feedback from your customers can help you better address their needs, adjust your campaigns, and react to the market’s changing demands.

5. Blogs help you expand your reach online.

By pinging search engines and using RSS feeds you can syndicate your content online, boost your reach and influence, and allow customers to control their communications with your company.

6. Blogs increase transparency and help you establish credibility.

Blogs are much more personal than a corporate website and because they are regularly updated, customers can remain informed about your business and feel more connected to you. Your blog can be your selling point and can sway prospective customers to choose you and your services over the competition.

Blogs are about communicating and building relationships with your readers. Use your blog for branding your business, building your reputation and communicating with your audience ‘ not just for making a sale.

There are a variety of ways you can use your blog to communicate with your readers and promote your business, while unobtrusively going after the sale. You can use your blog to:

· Write product reviews and link to product pages (consider signing up to be an affiliate)

· Write insightful articles or tips relevant to your audience

· Recommend products and services (yours or someone else’s)

· Post and archive company newsletters

· Share company news and product updates

· Offer special incentives and promotions

· Ask customers to complete surveys and provide feedback

Generating new content for your blog does not have to be a daunting task. You don’t have to worry about writing it all yourself. Instead, you can directly post your company newsletters as well as relevant third-party articles, reviews, and links found using sites like StumbleUpon and Google News.

Remember to include links where appropriate to your own website and product pages. Having a blog also allows you to make regular updates quickly and without needing a webmaster.

Business Blogs – The Smarter Way To Promote Your Business!

November 19, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

When you compare most of the options available for promoting your business, it’s clear that the world wide web offers many attractive benefits and possibilities for businesses to not only create greater exposure for their products and services, but also to leverage the business owner’s time and effort.

There is a smart, cheap, best, easy and fast solution. It’s called a business blog.

Some of the immediate advantages a blog offers businesses over regular, static web sites, are a smarter content publishing and management platform, more direct involvement with their customers, built-in capabilities like RSS feeds and search engine notification, and greater control and flexibility over the way content is managed.

Plus, it is way easier to promote and grow your business online using a blog, than it is using a website if you know how. Not to mention the fact that your promotional efforts can have a longer lifetime and give you greater exposure than traditional advertising media like newspaper or radio ads. (In fact, you can combine these, for example, making your current promotion be the home page of your blog, then sending radio or print ad visitors to your blog.)

What’s the difference between a business blog and a business website?

You can make a business blog look and feel exactly like a website – in fact, many of the sites you are visiting right now are probably powered by blogging platforms like WordPress, instead of popular web design HTML applications like Frontpage or Dreamweaver. A significant difference, is that you don’t need to know web site coding language like HTML to run a business blog, or add and modify content on your site. You simply add content and publish. This makes business blogs a perfect online marketing tool for business owners.

Another important difference is that blogs allow you to have “conversations” and build interactive relationships with other people, where static web sites tend to be more of a “one-way” vehicle for presenting information to visitors.

What if you already have a web site?

If you currently have a website that requires you to contact your web developer, web designer, web master or an IT savvy friend, nephew, niece or neighbor every time you want to make a change to your site, then you definitely need to consider adding a blog to your site. Simply install the blog in a subdirectory of your domain (e.g. yourdomain.com/blog), then promote your business using the blog and link your posts back to your site for more information about your products or services, to purchase, etc …

If you don’t have a website yet, then save yourself money on costly web development and a lot of hassle and just use a blog. With a blog, you can easily promote your business by adding regular posts and articles about a variety of different topics.

Here are just some ideas for things you can write about your business, then post on your business blog:

Product recalls Customer service information (e.g. how to ship product back, refund policies, etc.) FAQs Profiling customers Information your customers would find useful, educational, informative, entertaining, etc.New things coming soon to your business Profiling members of your team News about your industry Top 10 lists Product / Service tips (how to spot quality, how to avoid paying too much or being ripped off, etc ..)News about your own business Product / Service benefits

As you can see, there’s no shortage of content to write about when it comes to promoting your business.

Now … just getting a blog up and running is not really going to help you. You need to know how to configure it properly if you want to achieve the best results with the least effort.

Fortunately, there is a great resource I recommend you research in more detail if you are interested in knowing more about the benefits and advantages of using a business blog to help you promote your business and sell your products and services smarter. A company called SelfPublishWebcom offers two ways to help you set up a blog for your business that will not only get your site pages quickly indexed in Google and other major search engines (usually in as little as 2-3 days), but they show you how to fully configure it so that it becomes a powerful marketing tool for your business, with many automated built-in promotional features that you don’t even need to think about.

You just write about your business and the automated system running silently in the background goes to work for you.

SelfPublishWebcom offers two options: They can fully install, set up and configure your business site / business blog for you and you’re then ready to go in as little as 4-5 working days, or, if you want to save several hundred dollars, you can purchase their complete ’step-by-step’ DIY video training tutorials package, which is done in a completely non-technical way so that anyone with basic computer skills (like the ability to cut and paste) can just watch over their shoulder and follow along as they show you how to get your own business blog up and running in 2 days or less.

I’ve had a chance to fully review their offers and I thoroughly recommend the step-by-step video training tutorials they offer as a DIY cheaper alternative. You get access to a private Member’s Area where you can watch all of the training videos and download all of the materials, plus ongoing support. The videos are excellent and make everything really easy to follow, and the information is never overwhelming. You are only given what you need to know in order to get the next task done. Additional resources are provided in the member’s area, plus you get training emails, and access to a member’s forum.

In my opinion, the smartest option is to purchase the step-by-step video training tutorials (selling for less than $100 last time I checked), then assign the task of installing, setting up and configuring the site to somebody in your team if you don’t want to go through the tutorials yourself. Like I said earlier, the instructions and video tutorials are really easy to follow, so anyone can do it.

Blog Marketing-Your Ultimate Guide

November 16, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

In the early years of blogging, successful businessmen concluded that they cannot make profit from blogs. But try to hear them say that today and what you’d only hear is silence. It’s a reality that people have to face these days. Blogging is now a money-making tool in the internet. And since it is a social media, it can therefore be of great help to sell directly from your blog posts. Making a big leap on blog marketing strategies is one great step you can make for a profitable blog. The most important thing you need to develop here is to build an interactive relationship with your blog, and this can later on build a productive global community. As you do this, you may begin encouraging your visitors to sign up for your RSS feed. You can do that by providing an opt-in form where they will click to subscribe for your newsletter using your blog. Selling products or services in the form a newsletter is a good idea. It can be more effective when you offer tips and tricks, tools and support.Professional bloggers constantly suggest the use of blog marketing in promoting your business to increase your sales. No capital is invested in starting one as blogs are offered for free. If you are a newbie to this kind of business strategy, you may use your creativity to start your own blog. Do remember that your blog must be different from your business official blog or website. But you should also mention your business on your newly created blog and vice versa. It is actually the purpose of blog marketing.Your blog increases its traffic when people begin linking into it. You can make it happen when you visit other blogs that feature the same interest as yours and leave comments for backlinks. It is the most effective profitable method of blog marketing. You can read them regularly until you feel comfortable to leave comments. You must also attach your blog link to your comments. These are just some of the steps to do networking and making contacts for your blog. That’s how creative and innovative you can get by promoting your blog using blog marketing technique. You can also do something for your blog. Since you already know your prospects, configuring online surveys in your blog can be more exciting for your visitors. You can type this phrase in Google, “Wordpress survey plug-in”, download and install it on your blog as a productivity-enhancing gizmo. By doing so, you are encouraging your visitors to make comment at the end of your blog post. To gain more feedback, you may use this effective question, “What do you think?” and share some products that you love and ask for their experience on the same products. You must keep track on what they tell you so you will know if you have to change something on your blog to meet your visitors’ needs and desires. But keep in mind that your blog should have a user-generated content since it can be an excellent source of research as well as a blog marketing idea for you.

Are you making this common advertising mistake when promoting your business online?

November 15, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

There is one major mistake I see people make when they begin promoting their online businesses and this is it. When they start purchasing advertising, they tend to purchase advertising that has no lasting effect on their business. What I mean by this is they will buy solo ads to be placed in ezines, they will place Craigslist ads or do a direct mail campaign using postcards. While all these methods are good and they work, they are not the best thing to do for the long term.

When many people first start promoting their MLM, CPA offers, eBay products or whatever it may be they focus on only one thing and that’s getting into profits as fast as possible. While this is understandable, it is also killing their business before they even get started. See, a lot of people get into these businesses online with money they really couldn’t afford to spend in the first place. They are looking at the ads they place to be their financial saviour. This is the wrong way to go about it and in my article I’m going to show you a smarter way to work.

You need to be focused on spending your ad budget on marketing that will be around for weeks, months and even years. Some good examples of these would be search engines, blogs, videos etc. View this type of marketing as long term residual advertising. The term residual means do something once and reap the benefits of it forever. Here is a strategy for getting your website indexed into the search engines. Make good use of directories as they are absolute search engine magnets. Using them will get Google, Bing and Yahoo and others to take notice of your website quickly.

Wordpress blogs should be a tool that’s in every marketers bag of tricks as well and here’s why. When you post good and frequent content to your blogs, the search engines will revisit your site often to index it’s pages. When this occurs, your blog posts can get massive exposure based on whatever keywords you chose. Regular websites that never get updated are called static websites and the search engines see no reason to come back and look at them that often. Blogs can be cheap to use and they are extremely powerful so use them.

However, there is a right way and a wrong way to use them. They have what’s called plug ins and they allow your blog to perform certain actions that once again entice the search engines to look at your site often. Plug ins are critical for a blogs success so be sure that you have the correct settings for yours.

Videos are another excellent tool for that long term exposure because once you upload them to Youtube or various other video sharing websites, they will always be there working for you. Yes there is that rare occasion where they can get removed or be flagged. When this happens it’s usually by your competition who was jealous that your video was better than theirs. This happens very rarely so don’t let that stop you from uploading many videos.

Now let’s talk about magazine ads for a minute, they are to be considered a major part of ones advertising portfolio if they are in the budget. Dollar for dollar they are still hard to beat when you want to get the most out of your ad budget. Magazine ads are not one trick pony’s, when they are placed they tend to get read not just when the issue comes out. They tend to get read for months and even years down the road. People will hold onto these and even pass them around from friend to friend. When this happens guess who’s ad gets a free ride.

All forms of social bookmarking and social media marketing are considered long term advertising. When you make a tweet on twitter or post to your friends wall on Facebook or use Myspace, you are creating lasting content about your business. With the millions of people who actively read and post to these websites, you would be crazy not to be in these venues. Surely by now you’ve noticed how much the media talks about social media, it’s in the news daily. More and more people are jumping on this bandwagon so it would benefit you greatly to make sure your website gets noticed on these sites.

In closing let me make this final comment about your online advertising. Make sure that you plant your marketing on a firm foundation by focusing on the long term methods first. Use videos and all forms of social networking first. Use magazine ads if they are in your budget, do some directory submissions for your website. Set up either a blogger or Word press blog and make sure they have all the necessary plug ins like all in one SEO pack and others. Make sure that you post on a regular basis to your blogs so the search engines keep re indexing your pages.

Then once you have that going for you, come back and do the short term things like the solo ads, the postcards and other. You will see that down the road it was the smartest decision you could have ever made.

Using Social Networks To Promote Your Business

November 8, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

Social networking is getting off the ground big time with websites like Facebook and Twitter in the top five social networking sites. These sites have produced fresh opportunities to promote your  business or to just contact people online, even market to them, if you know how to do it correctly. One matter that you can be certain of is that people who come on these sites enjoy the way it helps them define their self-identities. So, marketing to anything that assists them announce who they are, what social groups they go belong to, and what values they maintain is a big way to make your contact list, and still in some cases, advertise products that will appeal to this demographic.

Look At Me!

One way that social networks such as Facebook and Twitter permit you to personalise the profile is by employing your actual name, or in the case of Twitter, a screen name. This attracts attention to who that individual is and aids to advance their self-image. In the same way, if you’re attempting to sell books or calendars, if you have some way that you can bring in a personalization to induce the item more custom, you’ll deliver more sales. Everybody enjoys seeing their name in print!

Generate A Group Identity

On Facebook, you can assemble a Facebook page for famous people, occupations, and products. People then join these pages to turn into a group of devotees that like the page or subject. When you have a group of people put together, it can be a avid way to get a group identity put together by producing intriguing names for the groups, having interactive activities from time to time and making social badges that show people as representing a member of that group. This aids in promoting your business or company as other people attend additional social networking websites. They can then distinguish themselves by pronouncing they’re a member of that group or employing another form of badge or button that you put up to identify themselves proudly. Still if they never go elsewhere to advertise your group, the fact that they are a part of a group that you began affords you a enraptured audience and loosens up alot of of the limitations that you have for marketing in Facebook. You can not spam others on their profiles with your offerings, but in a group, the use may be more acceptable if it aids to facilitate group actions and maintain group criteria of identity.

Social Values That Sell

If you are a non-profit-making establishment attempting to employ social networking to assist in generating contacts and advertise some of your products, you can trade by the promotion of your social values. For example, if you are a non-profit-making that believes in environmental issues, you can advertise particular items in your merchandise line-up, in a post to a group wall, that demonstrates how that particular item helps to salvage the environment. Because people wouldn’t join the group of a social conscience website without having some of the same values, it allows for an first-class induction to engender buying behavior.

Search Engine Optimization How to Improve Your SEO with Your Own Blog

November 6, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

The development of a website for promoting your business online is a necessary part of the modern day business. Having a website doesnt simply end there, when you create your website you need to start the process of getting traffic to your site; in particular you need to get search engines to find your site so that you can increase your page ranking. It is widely acknowledged that the more links you can establish to your site, the faster and higher your site will go in the page rankings. The dilemmas of finding quality links can be the major stumbling block of many businesses. One way that you can overcome this is to create your own blog.

The benefit to having a blog is that you can automatically link it back to your webpage, giving you one of those all important links. The other great advantage of blogs is that they generally get higher importance from search engines. Like website SEO, blog SEO is becoming a key concept when marketing your blog and driving more traffic to your site.

Some of the key advantages of having a blog to improve your SEO is that aside from linking back to your website, it demonstrates that you know your stuff. When you give your visitors great information at the blog then you instill more confidence in them, making your business preferential to them. It can also be a great way to receive information about your customers, develop a rapport with them and also to improve your sales and marketing by getting a stronger understanding of your customers.

When you establish a blog you have the ability to demonstrate your niche skills and to create quality content that complements the scope of your core business site. The internal linking as mentioned before is also of great benefit. You can ensure that a good quality link exists from your blog to your web pages, a great way to increase web traffic and boost your search engine ranking.

Why a blog is good for SEO?

o Using a blog is a good boost for your SEO practices, because they can potentially reach your customers and boost your search engine ranking the fastest. When you are creating a blog for business and to improve your SEO, there are several things you should try to consider.

o Select a series of keywords or keyword phrases that you would like to include in your blog and focus your postings so that you can post additional information that centres on these key words each day. When you incorporate these key words, then you should be clear about what the keyword is, and it is worthwhile including it in the first paragraph, within the first 25 words or thereabouts. Be sure to place a hyperlink to you website using the keyword as the starting point, this is then able to help guide the search engines to your site, as well as driving traffic to your site.

Getting your blog started quickly and easily

o To create your own blog is a straightforward process. First of all go to an blogging site and signup. Finding out the reputable sites is a simple step but will be well worth the effort. You will be asked for routine signup information, such as email, password and username. Once this is done you can select a blog URL and template; this can then be customised as much or as little as you see fit. When you get to this stage you are just about ready to go live. All you need now is to write your first post or article and publish it.

Once your blog is ready a good tip is to keep your posts at length of around 250 words. This is considered a good compromise between a length that is suitable for search engines that prefer to find longer texts, and a length at which you will keep the readers interest through to the end of your writing. So now you know why and how to establish a blog for improving your SEO, what are you waiting for? A blog is a quick and efficient way to boost your web presence; and when you see the results you will be glad you started one.
