How Can Blogging Promote your Website

November 14, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

Blogging about your website can both be used as a SEO technique and as a means of viral marketing.Search Engine Optimization: Blogging & Pinging

First blog about your website, and link to it. Search engines can follow that link to your website like any other link. But with blogs you can also submit the feed to a number of search engines, and inform them of a new post by pinging. Many blog services do this automatically for you, or you can submit manually to Google Blog Search and Yahoo Feeds.

Bloging & pinging can be used to make sure a new website gets noticed by search engines, but you can use it for other SEO purposes. For example, find out which pages are not yet indexed, and link to them in your blog. Or use links with specific anchor texts to improve your keyword rankings. You can even try to make your pages rank for keywords that are not found on the pages.Website Marketing: The Blogosphere

You can get more traffic to your blog by commenting on related blogs. Remember to post helpful comments – never spam. Traffic from good comments is more targeted, and those visitors are more likely to stay on your site. Remember to list your blog address when commenting on other blogs. You don’t need to use your front page, but could post a welcoming post for that purpose. A post that converts new visitors.

By blogging, and reading other blogs you also stay up to date on what is hot in the net. You can use this information to update your site, and add hot features. Other bloggers may also give you business ideas you would have never thought about. What is hot today can mean what is profitable tomorrow.

4 Principles of Effective Search Engine Marketing Strategy

November 14, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

For the first two or three years I was in business, I blew off search engine marketing. After all, the big name gurus didn’t do it, and they were making plenty of money.
One guru even suggested putting some obscure search term like “scoobie snacks” on your page six times and then submitting your page to the search engines. After a few days, all you had to do was search for the term “scoobie snacks”, and then you found your page at the top of the search engines.
Well, I don’t sell “scoobie snacks”. I sell internet marketing. Search engine marketing is part of my overall marketing strategy now because search engines are the way people find things. Search engines drive targeted traffic, I want my potential visitors to find me.
I’ve learned a few things since then. Search engines are an important strategy, but search engines won’t buy from you. People do. Here are four things I’ve learned about creating an effective search engine marketing strategy.
1. Write for users first and the search engines second.
You can create all of the great content you want, rank number one in the search engines, and still not get any search engine traffic. Search engines read your content to index it, but they don’t read it to learn anything, or buy anything.
Keyword rich, search engine optimized content will please the search engines. Easy to read content that pleases your readers will be interesting, include lots of information, and will make your readers want to read more.
2. A successful search engine marketing strategy starts with a successful marketing strategy.
Search engine marketing is only one key in a successful internet marketing campaign. Although you don’t want to try and do too many different marketing techniques at once, you should have at least two or three internet marketing techniques you are very good at.
If one technique doesn’t work, try something new. Bad marketing is better than no marketing, but effective marketing is what will drive your sales.
3. Consider social search as as well as standard search engines.
Social search is changing the way users interact online. Sites like Stumble Upon are just one example of how users rate content. Social bookmarking sites, like Digg, are another way users rate content by creating “mini news stories.”
These sites are valuable for creating buzz about your business. They also help you build valuable backlinks for your websites. Don’t be afraid to use them, or use them to connect with others and get the message out about your business.
4. Consider video as another search engine marketing opportunity.
You Tube is now one of the top five sites on the internet. A lot of people like watching videos. Why not take your content and create it in another form? Instead of writing that tutorial, why not film it?
There are tons of free tools available on the internet to help you create videos, and once you do it a few times, it’s actually fun.
Marketing on the internet changes, and it often changes very quickly. What works today may not work tomorrow. Search engine marketing has been around a long time. It’s the way people find things, whether they use search engines, or social search. How you use this technique is up to you. Just use it because it works.

Making Money With Organic Traffic

November 9, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

Everyone wants to know the answer to one question.  How can I use the internet to make money? Well there are a number of ways to do so. The absolute best ways however, are with search targeted traffic. Search Targeted traffic is also known as organic traffic. Organic traffic are people searching the internet with a specific goal in mind. To get what they want. It doesn’t matter weather it’s information, a product, or a service. You can use this traffic to make money for yourself.

Just sign up for one of the many ad publisher programs out there. These things are no secret. Everyone uses them. The thing is, not everyone uses them effectively. You can. Pick a topic you know about. It’s easier to develop a money making website around something you know, than something you don’t know. Don’t scam people, give them what they want. If you even sound like you may be trying to make them part with their dollar, they’ll leave your site and you won’t make a dime.

The trick to find ways of making extra money is to stick to what you know and what people NEED. Everyone needs something. If they don’t need something now, they will need it later. Trust me, we’ve all been there. Provide information on what they might need and when they search, you may just pull in some dough. The best part is, that it’s a win win situation. You get paid and they get what they were looking for.

The biggest mistake is, people make websites about a billion different things. On one website! If you get ads for cars when you wrote about candy, the people that click the car ads might not even be interested in them. Those ads won’t convert and you may get your conversion price lowered. This isn’t good, as it means you will be struggling to make a dollar rather than ten. If you want to make money online, do it the right way. Target organic traffic.

Here are a few Search Engine Optimization (SEO) tips that you can use to get you going. These tips will help you avoid common mistakes and oversights others have made and continue to make.

1. Submit to Google – Don ‘t use the Google link to submit your site to them! Why? Because it can take quite a while for them to spider and index your website. Instead, submit a sitemap file that details all of the important pages you want them to know about and include how often you think it should be revisited based on changing content. This will get your site pages indexed faster. You can still submit a sitemap file even if you have done it the other way without fear of doing harm.

2. What Pages has Google Indexed – in the Google search bar, type in ’site:domain’, for example, site:seoformywebsite.com Notice there is no space after the colon (:) and there is no “www” preceding the domain name. When you see the results, you will see the total number of pages that Google has indexed about this domain. Why is this useful? That way you can make sure that pages you have submitted, either through submitting a sitemap, or the old fashioned way, have indeed been indexed.

3. When writing your page tag, avoid using your domain name or any URL in there. Also avoid using punctuation and “stop words.’ They take up valuable space. Stop Words are those words that do not get recorded into the index in order to speed up search results. “The” is on of the biggest offenders. There’s no definitive list, so do a search on Google or whatever search engine you use for “stop words”.

4. If you own multiple domains, make sure you give a link to your other domains. You might as well get some free link juice.

5. Internal Linking Strategy – not only do you need a link form the Home page to your other pages, but your other pages need to (a) link to your Home page using your SEO linking strategy and (b) link to other pages within your site in the text on the page. Remember too that the link does not have to be the same name as the page title nor the file name.

6. Speaking of file names, according to Matt Cutts, one of the foremost Google Engineers, the preferred file naming convention is to use a dash or hyphen ( – ) between words. This allows the indexing algorithm to give easier credit to your filename. For instance, he claims that “mybigmouth” is not as easy to parse as “my-big-mouth” and thus Google can do a better job properly indexing that page.

7. Vary the anchor text you use to submit to directories or that is used for inbound linking. The reasoning is that it makes the link look more natural to the search engine and not as if an automated submission tool was used – which, violates the Google “terms of use” agreement and gets you banned most ricky-tic.

8. Make use of your image ALT tags. first of all it is there for sight impaired person to understand the image and secondly you are telling the algorithm more about your page.

9. If you don’t have your domain name yet, if at all possible get a “.com” extension and try to get one that would be the #1 keyword for your website, like “big-red-roses-california” or the like.

10. I could write a whole article or two about using Twitter (and I will), but get yourself a Twitter account. At least you can secure the name you want now and learn how to use it later.

I hope these tips will provide you with some benefit. If you put them to use, I can guarantee it.

Top Methods of Driving Traffic to Your Website

November 3, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

You may have built the greatest website ever, but unless you promote it, no one is ever going to see it. Driving traffic to your website can be a time-consuming endeavour. But, if you learn some good marketing techniques, you can begin receiving traffic in no time at all.

There are many methods you can use for driving traffic to your website. Your goal should be to target a certain group of people in order to ensure that the traffic your site receives is quality. In order to market to targeted visitors, you need to stop and think for a bit just who exactly would benefit from visiting a site such as yours. What age group? What type of culture? Is your website about a particular hobby that many enjoy? What financial background should your visitors have?

Once you are able to answer all these questions, then you can begin driving traffic to your website. There are different ways to this: article marketing, search engine optimization, blogging, social networking, pay per click advertising, etc. Anyone of these may be enough for driving traffic to your website, but you should still try other methods as well, just as long as you have the time and money.

Search engine optimization, of course, means that you will prepare your site for Google and Yahoo results. Determine what keywords a searcher would enter into a search engine in order to come across a site such as yours. By optimizing your site for those keywords, you will be driving traffic to your website.

Article writing and blogging are also great methods of driving traffic to your website. You can write articles about your niche and place them on a blog. You can also submit them to article directories along with a link to your site. Don’t forget to add relevant keywords in your articles as well. Just as long as the articles are well-written and interesting, they will play a big role in driving traffic to your website.

Social networking involves creating accounts at places like MySpace, Twitter, Facebook, Stumbled Upon, etc., in order to meet friends and associates. You’ll be able to share information with others, and you can prove to everyone that you’re an expert of your niche. Just as long as you don’t outright spam, your friendliness and expertise will pay off and you’ll begin driving traffic to your website.

Pay per click advertising can be expensive, but it’s a great choice for those who know what they’re doing. If you have enough of a budget, then start a PPC campaign for driving traffic to your website. Google AdSense and Adbrite are two popular campaign hosts. You may need to seek advice on what keywords you should target with your campaign. By knowing which keywords and keyword phrases you can use for the lowest price possible, you’ll be saving a lot of money in the long run.

Driving traffic to your website is something that you need to really work hard to do. If at first things don’t seem to be going your way, don’t give up-try a different strategy if you must, but never give up.

Top 7 Tips for Improving Your Website

November 1, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

You may have heard that the days of Search Engine Optimisation are numbered. All those beautiful, customer-laden search engine rankings you were about to climb from some carefully repeated keyword placing. What is true is that search engines are getting more discerning. SEO isn’t dead. It just became part of a bigger pie. The trick is knowing how to charm the search engines because keyword stuffing has gone the way of the dinosaur. Google is getting a lot smarter at identifying what your site offers and how it relates to what people are searching for. So here are 7 tips to help you improve the content of your site and move your business up the search rankings quickly.

1.    THE IMPORTANCE OF SEO AND SEM

What is SEO? How does it apply to your business? Search Engine Optimisation is where guys like me use writing tools to improve your website, boosting its position in the search engine rankings. We know the right keywords for your business to refine your site so that when people type into their Google search engine the words ‘emergency plumber in London’, your name is at the right end of the search engine rankings.

The appliance of science

It’s never an exact science, of course, as the search engines are constantly shifting goalposts in terms of ranking criteria but, with a bit of work, you can move quickly up the search engine rankings and, in turn, increase your market share. So that’s SEO. Search engines are moving away from keywords to more of a concentration on overall website content and customer relationship building which, ultimately, helps with your link building (another important aspect of your site gaining in popularity).

Search Engine Marketing

Search Engine Marketing is the new buzz phrase. Engaging customers on a personal level – blogs, vlogs, social media, it was all there before, but now people are beginning to understand the merits of using networking sites like Twitter (which we’ll look at a little later) to promote your business to the world.

Survival of the smartest

Who are the companies surviving this recession? It’s the brand names who have built up a loyal fan base, who are talked about with fondness on the web, the brands who ask their customers what they need during tough times and then deliver it. Driving through a recession is not about price cutting (although this is important in terms of cash flow), it’s about identifying what customers really want and giving it to them. The companies that are surviving are adapting…and fast. Most weren’t, sadly, prepared for how severe the recession would be and many paid the price (Viyella, Woolworths, etc). Business survival is about listening. Then delivering to the right place at the right time.

Giving your customers the right slice of the pie

So what is Search Engine Marketing and how does it differ from SEO? Well, think of SEO as a slice of your favourite pie. It’s delicious, right? You can’t wait for another piece. Suppose there are six of you and each one loves pie but one loves custard on his, another is vegetarian, another likes cherries on top, etc. SEM gives you all a piece of pie and it’s exactly as you like it. Ah, organic, natural online growth, don’t you just love it? SEM is the pie, being baked again and again to adjust to the particular preferences of Mr Cherry On Top and Miss Custard. SEM focuses on on-site and off-site adjustments in order to maximise rankings in SERPS (Search Engine Results Pages). SEM uses all types of strategies (SEO, Pay Per Click, web visibility strategies, etc) to market your products online via search engines like Google and MSN.

2.    HOW TO BUILD CONTENT

Ah, that eternal question. How to build content or, to be more exact, how to build the right content. Clearly if you’re selling shoes made in China, an article about the quality of Italian shoemaking is going to be counterproductive. So what should you be doing to make your site more accessible, tailored and popular? How do you start to get noticed with the web full of people trying to do exactly the same thing?

Think about your marketing advantage

The first thing you have to think about is your marketing advantage. What is it that makes your product or service special? It may sound simple, but you would be surprised by the number of clients I deal with who can’t answer this basic question. Who am I? Sure, they can tell you right down to the nth component what they sell but they’re not looking at the bigger picture. Why do I sell this and what makes it different from all the others. So, first and foremost, thing about what makes you unique and, believe me, even if you don’t think you are, there is always something unique about your product. You just have to look for it. By now, hopefully you will have done a little research on the web. You’ll know that it’s good to have a HOME PAGE, an ABOUT US page, a PRODUCTS AND SERVICES page, a CLIENTS page, a PORTFOLIO page where people can see your work, the all-important CONTACT US page, etc. But what now? Again, it’s back to the quality of your content.

3. NEWSLETTERS – A GREAT CUSTOMER FACING TOOL

Back in the good old days when Gordon Brown was just a twinkle in the eye of…well, let’s not go there …long ago, before the internet was even born, people used to let their customers and potential customers know about their business by means of newsletters. If they were lucky, they might even have sold some ads in there too on support services. Nowadays, newsletters are everywhere on the web. The trouble with the web is that once a whole lot of articles get put out there written by successful copywriters telling people how great newsletters are as a tool, guess what happens. Suddenly everybody and his wife has a newsletter. So how do you separate yourself from everybody and his wife.

How to write a great newsletter

The key to the newsletter lies in its quality and identifying your customers. You may want to make use of a CRM tool to help you do this. I don’t know about you, but I receive a LOT of newsletters everyday, most of which are quickly sent to the junk folder but the ones that grab my attention are those which appeal to my senses. So, the trick of newsletters is to identify your customers and engage their thoughts and deliver the services they really want (sometimes they don’t even know they want it till you tell them). People don’t need to know what your cleaner does on their day off. They want to know who you are, what you can do for them and how much it’s going to cost. They want to know what new products you have on the market. They want to know how you feel about the world. They want to know your core values and whether they are aligned with theirs. This is about brand culture.

Why iPod became number one

Why did iPod end up leading the market? Style, design, lifestyle. People bought into the Apple culture. Apple understood and marketed the Osmosis Effect. People like to be associated with success and what’s perceived as cool. It’s human nature. If you can provide a service or product which can improve the quality of a life in your customer’s eyes, you can place that order for the Ferrari now (actually, given the current climate, make that two). The secret here is to get involved with your customers. Ask them what they want and then give it to them. In an uncertain world, people like to know about the people they do business with. So tell them but when you do, keep it brief, entertaining and informative.

4. USE NETWORKING SITES LIKE TWITTER TO YOUR BUSINESS ADVANTAGE

Twitter is a great way to get news out there. To be honest, when this site hit the press, I wasn’t sure what to make of it. But, having used it, I can see it’s a great tool for getting little nuggets of news out there. Basically it’s a networking tool. You can update your ‘followers’ on any news you have and what you’re doing in 140 characters or less. What a great instant bulletin. That then goes to all the people in your groups instantly. Content is king! Make it short, snappy, funny even. But get it out there. Got a new product? Tell them about it and where to find out more. Twitter is a great example of how the evolution of the web into a sophisticated marketing tool is allowing even mum and dad businesses to spread their messages quickly and globally.

5. PRESS RELEASES

Sites like Twitter are a great example of a micro release and a good illustration that if you want to raise your brand awareness, you need to be proactive. The secret to a good press release lies in the words of F Scott Fitzgerald who once said, “Don’t write because you want to say something, write because you have something to say.” Don’t write to fill blank space, write because you have something important to say about your company and the products and services it offers.

6.    THE ART OF CONVERSATION

There’s a fine art to conversation. Kind of like that saying about ‘any fool can start a relationship but it takes great skill to end one’. It’s now generally accepted that conversational copywriting (if you prefer, conversational branding) is the way to promote successfully to customers. Look at brands that do it well – Virgin, Innocent, Apple – all well liked brands. In the old days, when Gordon Brown was just a twinkle in the eye of…ahem…way back when, people used to use regional-accented call-centre operators to appeal to customers with their gritty, down-to-earth reassuring voices. The two are interlinked. It’s about trust. Conversational branding is just that – trust. Trust in the person selling you, trust in the product, trust in the company. Company culture meets prospective buyer. Your customer tells you they are interested. Where does that interest come from? It’s back to identifying with you as a brand. Your brand is where your customer wants to live. So conversation, the right conversational style, is critical to the success of communicating your sales message effectively. That’s where guys like me come in! (Did I mention you should visit guyfee.com today?)

7.    TOO MANY COOKS SPOIL THE BROTH – KNOW YOUR MARKET AND DON’T CHASE A HORSE THAT’S ALREADY BOLTED

One of the major mistakes businesses make is to try to enter popular markets. Or, to give them their more accurate title, over-populated markets. Chasing markets already dominated by players is a sure route to failure. It’s the High School Musical / X Factor effect. How many companies change their brands and, subsequently, brand appeal not by modernising and pushing their own boundaries slowly and subtly but by completely changing focus and perspective to chase a horse that had already bolted (see my other article at guyfee.com called THE CREDIT CRUNCH MONTH: WHY SUPERBRANDS ARE WATCHING for more on this). Yes, I know I said you have to adapt or die but the way you do it is also important. Identify who you are as a brand and then stick to it. Evolve your business. The best leaders in the world are the ones who speak their mind, regardless of the consequences. These are pioneers who don’t care about what people think, they care about what they have to say and then they say it. It’s the same in business. Stick to your guns. Adjust the sights, by all means, but be true to yourself and always remember what makes your business special. Keep telling people about it.

A FINAL WORD…

Your website is a statement of intent. It’s a reflection of your business so make sure every word and image reflects the unique culture of your company. Find your voice. Start thinking of your company in terms of branding. Take a look around the web to see what your direct competitors are doing right (and wrong). The evolution of your website is a journey. You will make mistakes along the way but the secret is to keep building your content, keep moving forward, cultivate links, and get help with the words when you feel you need it (did I mention my copywriting website at guyfee.com?). Let your website be a voyage of incredible discovery for your customers – I really do mean that.
Be the best at what you do. Bring your customers with you into the world of what you know is special about your product. The best of luck.

The Do’s That You Should Do in Starting an SEO Campaign

October 27, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

In internet marketing, Search Engine Optimization or commonly known as SEO is among of the rising trends in internet marketing. SEO makes use of search engine algorithms for targeted keywords to raise the rank of a web site. This in turn, generates higher volume and quality of traffic in a web site. But because of SEO’s popularity in internet marketing, many have decided to employ its advantages in marketing, which in turn makes SEO efforts a lot more complicated.

More and more, big and small businesses are starting to use SEO strategies and techniques to improve their marketing efforts on the internet. And some are searching for a proper way to use SEO in their campaign. Here is a short list of Do’s that one should do in an SEO campaign.

The First DO: Do a Commitment and Patience Check

SEO is like getting married, you must be fully committed before starting an SEO campaign. One of the main reasons is that search engine algorithms constantly changes, which means tactics or techniques used in last month’s SEO campaign may not be enough to make the cut for the top 10 SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages) this month. SEO requires a long-term outlook and commitment.

A patience check is also important before starting an SEO campaign. Patience is important in this type internet marketing campaign because of the long wait that you have experience before actually getting results. Results often take months to see, and this is especially true the smaller you are, and the newer you are to doing business online.

The Second DO: Do Your Study on an SEO Company

Now before you hire yourself an SEO Philippines, you should first check on the tactics and techniques that the SEO Company uses in their SEO efforts. You should ask for the specifics and risks involved in an SEO campaign. It’s also necessary that you should do your own research about the company (has it been in operation for more than a year now or has a good record in providing SEO services on their previous clients) and learn about their SEO processes.

It is also important that you should do your own research about SEO efforts. You’ll have to become a student of SEO and learn as much as you can about SEO processes and campaigns. Luckily, there are several sites such as Optimind Technology Solutions, which provides some information about SEO campaigns.

The Third DO: Do Your Website

Now if your site did show up ranking number one in any search engines, but your website looks as if it needs to be analyzed by those guys on extreme makeover, then your SEO efforts will be for nothing. Just think, is this site really appropriate to belong to the world’s Top 10 in this topic?

If ever you’re targeting the highest of all ranks on a specific topic, you should be able to provide the users with an appropriate design of a website that really reflects the information the user wants.

Site maps are also important in an SEO campaign. A site map will help spiders find all the important pages on your site, and help the spider understand your site’s hierarchy. This is especially helpful if your site has a hard-to-crawl navigation menu. If your site is large, make several site map pages. Keep each one to less than 100 links.

It is also important that your URL is SEO friendly. This is done by using your selected keywords in your URLs and some images and files. But don’t overdo it, though. A file may be “very” SEO-friendly, but a file that has 3 or more hyphens tends to look spammy and users may be hesitant to click on it.

Another thing about your website is the title of the page. The page title is the single most important on-page SEO factor. The meta description tag in your page title won’t help you rank, but it will often appear as the text snippet below your listing, so you should include the relevant keyword(s) and be written so as to encourage searchers to click on your listing.

The Fourth DO: Do a Copy That Sells

Now before you make a web copy, you should first do a keyword research on what keywords you would like to include in your copy. There is a lot of paid internet software that can make it easier for you to choose your keywords. But if you’re on a tight budget, there are also some free versions of Keyword Discovery or WordTracker that you can use. Both of which also have more powerful paid versions.

Now that you have your keywords, you or your hired SEO Company should get started in making a great and unique content different from your rivals. You should first make an observation about your competitors. If you’re selling the same widget that 100 other retailers are selling, and everyone is using same the boilerplate descriptions from the manufacturer, then this is a great opportunity for you to make your own unique copy of that same widget. Using the keyword research I talked to you about to target actual words searchers use, and make product pages that blow the competition away. Plus, retailer or not, great content is a great way to get inbound links.

But before you start your web copy, you should always remember that humans are the one that will read your copy, not the search engine robots. It may be very helpful if you stuff a lot of keywords in a single web copy, but this could make it less readable for humans, which will then loose their interest in reading more about the article.

The Fifth DO: Optional: Do a PPC Campaign

Doing a PPC or a Pay Per Click campaign in an SEO campaign is an optional choice. But if you have the budget for it, then this is a great way to get actual search volume for your keywords. It’s also the solution if you didn’t like to wait for too long.

The Sixth DO: Do Your Link Building Wisely

In building your link partners, it’s important that you choose where you want to put your link. Trusted directories such as Yahoo, DMOZ, Business.com, Aviva, and Best of the web are among of the most popular link partners that any websites would have. Seek links from authority sites in your industry. If local search matters to you, seek links from trusted sites in your geographic area, such as the Chamber of Commerce, etc. You should also analyze the inbound links to your competitors that you can also use to be your link partner.

The Seventh DO: Do Press Releases and Blog Participation

One of the most important parts of an SEO campaign is through building a relationship with a media that covers most of your industry. Setting up some Press Releases on this media can be a great source for your exposure, including getting links from trusted media web sites. Distributing releases online can also be an effective link building tactic, and opens the door for exposure in news search sites.

Starting up blogs is also an important part in an SEO campaign. Search engines such as Google love to crawl on blogs for its fresh content and highly-structured data. And beyond that, joining discussions on a blog can really provide the exposure that you really want, and the opportunity to build a community about your industry. Reading and commenting on other blogs can increase your exposure and help you acquire new links.

The Eighth DO: Do a Social Media Campaign

If you have some photos on your business, you should join communities such as Flickr to talk about things about your industry. If you’re a service-oriented business, use Yahoo Answers to position yourself as an expert in your industry. But whatever you do, don’t “SPAM” on them. Be an active, contributing member of the site. The idea is to interact with potential customers, not annoy them.

The Ninth DO: Do Take advantage on Opportunities

People researching for offline buying is a growing trend nowadays. This is a perfect opportunity to make your “physical” business known. Optimize your site to catch local traffic by showing your address and local phone number prominently. It’s highly preferred if you write a detailed Directions/Location page using neighborhoods and landmarks in the page text. Write a detailed Directions/Location page using neighborhoods and landmarks in the page text. You should also encourage those that visited your site to leave reviews of your business on these sites.

There are also some tools that search engines give you to learn how search engines work on finding your site. Tools such as Google’s webmaster Central and Yahoo’s Site Explorer are a good example. This is to learn more about how the search engines see your site, including how many inbound links they’re aware of.

The Tenth DO: Do a Flexibility Check

As I said before, search engine algorithms constantly changes, which means tactics or techniques used yesterday may not work today. You must be flexible enough to get things around and stay at the top. Other strategies such as Newsletters and other subscriber-based content can help you hold on to traffic/customers no matter what the search engines do.

In fact, some of the things I said to you (creating great content, starting a blog, using social media and local search) are ways not only to improve the traffic of users to your site, but also a way for your rank to stay always on the top ranks. This will also help you grow an audience of loyal prospects and customers that may help you survive the whims of search engines.
