So what is Adsense and what can it do for me?
Adsense (and other similar advertising solutions from search engines such as Yahoo and MSN) are regarded as being the new method for passive online money making. Adsense provides a way for people with websites of all types and sizes to put up and display relevant Google ads on the content pages of their sites and hence earn money.
Unlike link exchanges and rotating banners, Google Adsense ads relates to what your visitors came to your site to read about each advert that is displayed is specifically tailored to the keyword content of the specific page. This obviously means that you now have a way to improve your sites page content and potentially make some money.
Quite simply Google Adsense gives you the ability to earn advertising revenue from every single page on your website with a minimal investment of your time!
In addition to providing both text and image based adverts (known as ‘Adsense for content’), Adsense has two additional features that you can integrate into your web pages to provide your site visitors with more opportunities to earn you money ‘Adsense for Search’ and ‘Referrals’.
Adsense for Content
Probably the most popular Adsense product, ‘Adsense for Content’ displays ads that are targeted to your sites unique content. Adverts take the form of an Ad Unit, which contains either text ads, image ads or both and Link Units where each link unit displays a list of topics that are relevant to your page.
For a full visual list of Adsense advert styles visit: https://www.google.co.uk/adsense/adformats
So what kind of adverts get displayed on your site? As mentioned before, that’s what sets Adsense apart from the competition you don’t have to decide, Google does it for you!
Adsense always delivers relevant ads that are precisely targeted to each specific page. For example if you had a site dedicated to your pet dog, Google will send you ads for that site or specific page that relate to pet food, dog collars and other dog related products and services.
Adsense for Search
Integrating a Google Search box onto your site not only allows your visitors to search your website but it also provides a quick and easy search tool for surfing the web. As with ‘Adsense for Content the search results produced by your on site search box contain adverts relating to that specific search. When an advert gets click it earns you some more money. In effect and in my opinion, it’s a poor mans site search tool which has the added benefit of earning you some additional revenue.
Referrals
As with many large online organisations and business, promotion is an excellent method of getting new customers and visitors. Google is no exception and through Adsense you can help promote Google whilst also earning some cash.
The referrals section of Adsense gives you the ability to actively promote (on your website or web page) the Google Adsense, Google Adwords, Firefox plus Google Toolbar, Google Pack and/or Picasa (Photo organisation software). In much the same way as Adsense Content, every time a referral link is clicked on your site it earns you some more money.
What you really need to know…
Unlike other banner and link related websites, Google has no strict criteria for acceptance into the Adsense program, and Adsense doesn’t require your site to have a minimum traffic requirement. The only criteria that you must stick to is their strict standard of ‘acceptable content’ requirements which basically means read their terms and conditions before you sign up. Failure of their guidelines would simply mean you’d lose your Adsense account and any raised revenue within it.

In the next article I’ll be looking in more detail at ‘Adsense for content’, answering the questions, What can Adsense do for me? What kind of adverts will appear on my site and How do I get started?

Anyone can make a blog. But in order to be competitive in this industry, here are a few things people should know. Before putting up the website, the person must answer this simple question. Who is the target market? By working on that, individual will be able to focus on something that people will really look at.When that has been done, its time to come up with catchy name. If the creator wants to focus on automobiles then one should think of something related to it. Should this be associated with something else and bears no resemblance to the site, not only will it confuse the audience but also destroy any credibility the person will have. Those who something original should enlist the help of a computer programmer. Regardless where it came from, this should be checked over and over again to make sure no glitches or screw-ups happen when customers are visiting the site.Once the blog site is operational, a good host or application should be found to back this up. This will help introduce the product or service one is offering into the market. The entrepreneur can do this without tying up with anyone but this could take a longer time to get established in the business. The person can submit ads to software developers to feature the blog. There is usually a small fee for maintenance costs so those who don’t have that much money can still achieve this by becoming an affiliate or through the use of text links. Listing your blog in blog directories is probably not the best way to generate traffic, but it can be useful in certain ways. It’s a great way to connect with other like-minded bloggers and possibly generate some link exchanges, etc.The entrepreneur should have an efficient delivery system to make sure this gets to the customer. It is also advisable to have a customer service hotline ready in the event that the buyer has encountered problems or is not happy with the product. Unless the person diversifies or offers new things, other competitors will just take over the market. Now that new search engines like Bing are being talked about more readily, it’s clear that people want to know how to optimize for Microsoft’s latest introduction to search. Those who visit Bing will find that the site provides general search and a category search. Other than a large graphic, the search engine doesn’t appear to have a lot behind it. However, Microsoft has reported a more intelligent search engine and new search experience.
The question that website owners want answered is how the new engine produces results differently than the previous search engine and what optimization techniques should be used compared to those used for Google and Yahoo! I’ve done quite a bit of research on the subject and it appears that there are only a few factors that might influence Bing results compared to Google. The thing to keep in mind is that following SEO best practices will rule the day.
When looking at top ranked websites, an in depth analysis can be done to see which factors vary between top results. A recent comparison that I viewed showed that the number one ranking website on Bing was able to keep a leg up on the competition by having an older domain age, and having inbound links from websites that included the primary keyword in the referring site’s title tag. In short, the top web site was successful in building inbound links from other SEO sites and directories as opposed to being from unrelated websites.
What I find particularly interesting is that Bing is relying on many of the same factors that Google has been using from day one. The factor you should be most concerned with is inbound linking. Both search engines like inbound links. More importantly, they like relevant in bound links. Use this information to guide your SEO campaigns and determine which sites to target for link exchanges.
Organic search should be at the top of your list. If it is then you know where you need to focus, inbound linking. If you haven’t gotten on the organic rankings band wagon, then start with on page optimization. Once your site is formatted appropriately, start with off page optimization and link building.
The other place you want to focus is content. Quality content is vital. But trying to attract users with quality content alone is not enough to rank on top for competitive keywords. Make is easy for others to link to your content and give them a reason to do so. Add time to your daily efforts to acquire links from relevant and authoritative sites to increase your rankings and keep you on top of search engine results.
You may be asking yourself which search engine you should be optimizing your web site for. Based on what I’ve seen, I’m encouraged by preliminary Bing related findings. I believe that Bing is using many of the same factors that Google uses to evaluate a site’s relevance to a search query. As always, focus on white hat methods to optimize your site and follow SEO basics.
If you’re looking for a quick way to rank out on top for Bing, Google, or Yahoo! for that matter, consider leveraging existing websites that has some age, a number of inbound links from authority websites, and quality content.

Blog marketing for small business is all about current, or up-to-date news about your business. It is certainly an excellent tool to use to bring your business to the attention of others. However, you must be patient because it can be a long process that requires a fair amount of attention to detail. Just because you have a blog does not mean that someone will find it and read about your business, you need to make your business blog known. If you have a website for your business, you can refer to your blog on the website, therefore, those already knowing about your site will be able to access your blog also.
Blog marketing for small businesses is something that, being relatively simple, anyone can do. Having a blog and keeping up to date with the latest information is not difficult. It is more a case of consistency than anything.
How does one begin this marketing blog for small businesses?
Marketing a blog is more or less the same way that a website is marketed. Keywords and content are the main thing here. It can be you that writes the content, if you are so inclined, or pay someone to write for you. This part is entirely up to you. However, you want to be sure that the content is relevant, actually worth reading and that your target audience will want to read, if you want them returning. You also want to become familiar with SEO, search engine optimization. SEO will help you optimize your blog to get a better ranking in search engines.
After choosing keywords and published relevant content on your blog, you’re ready to start making it known on the internet. Link exchanges are important for your small business marketing blog and exchanging links with similar sites that are relevant to yours, but not in direct competition, is a good way to get noticed.
You can pay some directories to list your blog URL in their directory under the specific category that it falls under. However, many directories have special guidelines you must follow in order to be approved for inclusion, this is fairly straight forward, provided you don’t try to have your blog included for a category it is not best suited to.
Another important thing to remember when you’re in a small business marketing blog, is that if someone leaves you a comment on the blog, you should respond, acknowledging their interest. You can also comment on other blogs that are relevant to yours, leaving a link to your blog too. This will bring visitors to your blog, and you should begin to see an increase in traffic.

Working from home is one of the best ways to grow a passive income because virtually any one can do it. However, no one can earn money on the internet without traffic. Offline businesses rely on location. Online however, the rules change slightly; you are both everywhere and nowhere. Because of this, location takes a backseat to traffic.
It is this aspect that makes earning money on the internet so appealing. You have the potential to reach millions of customers. The challenge for most new work at home business operators is that you dont have the capital of a large corporation to do it. The advantage of earning money online is you do not need it.
A small online business owner can attract hundreds of visitors without spending thousands of dollars on advertising. Getting free traffic online should be a mission for new work at home fanatics.
Link Exchange
Earning money on the internet involves building a brand. One of the best ways to do this is by participating in link exchange. This is when you and a non-competing but similar company host links on one anothers websites. For example, if you offered a web design service you could exchange links with a website who offered web hosting. Chances are people who visit the web hosting company will then want to begin building an attractive website for their business.
If you sold baby clothes online you may consider exchanging links with someone who sells custom made cribs. In order to have a successful link exchange campaign, you need to exchange links with companies who have authority online. That is, you will want to work with a website that has been online for over a year and receives at least 30 unique visitors a day.
You also want to be sure that the website is related to your own content and material, because you want to attract the same type of customer. Also, exchanging links with non related websites can hurt your ranking. Doing a search for link exchanges will turn up a number of opportunities, many of them are free.
Blogging
Blogging has become an excellent, if not the way to earn money on the internet. Since blogs get spidered faster than websites many people are setting up blogs related to their business to drive traffic to their website. Commercial websites, for instance benefit greatly. They can use their blogs to write content, and answer questions potential customers may have.
It is also something you will want to consider if you are an affiliate marketer. Most affiliate websites are the same which means that you will have to exercise your creative efforts to stand out. Blogging not only helps you differentiate yourself from your competitors you also build your authority while sending traffic to your affiliate website.
Wordpress is the choice for most people who earn money on the internet. It is free to set up and can be installed directly into a sub directory within your websites domain.
Forums
Getting free traffic online often means getting in front of people and directing them somewhere else. Forums not only let you build credibility, and learn, you can also use them to drive traffic to your website. Most forums let you create a signature which you can use to pull traffic to your site. In order to make this work for you, you must find a forum that is relevant to your website and you need to work on establishing yourself as a reliable, helpful resource. This means avoiding blatant advertising.
Getting free traffic online does take time and dedication but it is worth it if you seriously want to earn money online. Your work at home business is heavily dependant on traffic thus, using the methods mentioned above is great way to start getting traffic and building your brand.

You finally decided to start your business online. Now what do you do? You need traffic, and there are many different ways to get it. Link exchanges, article marketing, forums, SEO and social media can all drive traffic to your site. The trick is finding which one is right for you.
Link Exchanges
Link Exchanges can put a web page in front of a lot of people very quickly. This is great for “squeeze pages” which are simple pages with almost all the data on the screen in one shot. The problem is most people using a link exchange will only glance at what they see, so you have to catch their eye quickly. A full web page will often be ignored, and may see a lot of traffic, but no turnover.
Article Marketing
This is perhaps the most pervasive method of generating traffic for your site. By writing articles and submitting them around the web, you can leave a great many links back to your site through your signature. Your article will catch the person’s eye, and if it’s something they like, you’ve started your sale. By spreading your links on your articles, you also help your search engine optimization by creating back links to your site.
Forums
Many people use forums as a method of generating both backlinks and traffic. As with your articles, you add your web page to your signature, but with forums, you post what you wish. Your customers can get to know you, and from there know your business. This method works well with any Multi-Level Marketing model because you build a relationship with your downline before you approach them. If you know your customer, you are in the best position to help them.
Social Media
Social mediums work much the same way as forums. Your advertising is done through your signature generating backlinks as you chat. Once again you are building trust and a relationship as you market yourself. At the risk of repeating myself, if you are working on an mom or any other business where you will have prolonged interaction with a customer you need these methods. The most important part of marketing may be having your customer see you, but the second is persuading them to buy. You can ONLY do this with a relationship.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
Search Engine Optimization is the most certain method of building traffic. By increasing your page rank you can have Google promote your site for you. This “organic” traffic is targeted traffic made of people actively seeking your product or service. You should start your SEO the first day as you build your site. It takes time to research your keywords, and effort building your backlinks, but SEO can pay off for years to come.
There are many other methods to drive traffic to your website. You can pull people from outside the web with news services like the paper, tv, or Radio. These ideas will help you draw traffic and grow your business online.

Everyone is already aware of paid and free ways of getting traffic to your web-site. Free ways of getting traffic are organic traffic from search engines, link exchanges and links in social network sites. However, these free ways are not the topic of this article.
This article is about paid ads that get traffic to your web-site. Many of you might ask: why would someone pay for it, if there are free ways of getting traffic? The answer is straightforward. Paid offers help you get specific traffic of higher quality. Under ’specific’ and ‘higher quality’ I mean traffic of visitors that really want to get to your site and visitors how are already searching a product to buy.
There are two models of charging for ads. Some charge you for how many times your ad has been show in their network. That is the case when you place a banner in a site similar to yours. The advantage of it, is that it is quite cheap. Some ads wholesalers only charge you a couple of cents for dozens of impression (that is, how many times your site has been shown).
The second way of charging for ads is how many times a visitor actually came to your site. That is know as Pay per Click (aka PPC). The advantage for you is that you know that a user actually has interest in something that he clicked and that you only pay for real visitors that came to your site.
When buying traffic, consider carefully the source of this traffic. There is a huge difference between buying traffic from pop-ups and pop-unders than buying traffic from ads places in mainstream search engines. You will see that in the first case it is much cheaper, however, this price has its reasons. People who click on pop-ups often didn’t want to do that, it just happened and they came to your site without interest at all. The CLR is clearly lower in price and in quality.
If you know how to deal it, PPC from mainstream search engines has the best result, but also the higher initial cost. Setting the right keywords can be a tricky business. They should meet a trade-off between being cheap enough and being relevant enough. With time and checking your site statistics carefully, you will get a much better deal from commercial ads. If you sell, for example, snow blowers, you don’t care if people from Florida is clicking on your ads. If you are in the real estate business, you only want local lead to your site.
Remember that pay-per-click marketing campaigns can be pretty expensive in the hands of an inexperienced webmaster. Try at least to get an expert on boat to evaluate your strategy. There are several pitfalls out there for a novice and even if major ads wholesalers won’t try to scam you, they only aggregate offerings of minor sites, that sometimes want to get your bucks away. So watch out for strange patterns like many users from the same IP coming to your site at once.

Optimizing your site for free traffic is crucial when building a website. Having an optimized site will not only save you a lot of money in advertising, but will always be working for you.
In order to have the success you surely would like for your website to have, this is one tool that will deliver that directed search engine traffic that you want. Organic search engine hits are the best and, if you can receive all organic hits, then your site is going to be very valuable. This is particularly true if you were to consider selling your website sometime down the road. Here are a few tips to get you started.
1. The first way to start optimizing your site for organic SEO traffic is to do link exchanges. You will want to find other sites whose content is of the same or similar theme as yours. Then, you can request that they place your link on their page in exchange for you doing the same for them. Obviously, the more of this you do, the more benefits you will see, so you can employ this tactic as much or as little as you like. Websites like linkmetro and what not is one example of such a site that allows for such link-sharing relationships.
2. The second technique you want to employ is setting up links with sites that are highly ranked and are related to your content. This tactic is closely related to the first, but allows you to expand upon simply exchanging links and optimize such link exchanges. You can also keyword optimize your anchor test for your link so that you have keyword optimization working for your in addition to effective link sharing. This technique is so important for organic SEO traffic because this is what search engines look for when they are determining the level of quality and worthiness your site has.
3. The third tactic to employ involves the optimizing of anchor text. First, while you are writing your anchor text, it is very important to have a few different variations. Use different keywords so that you can receive traffic from a variety of different keywords and keyword phrases individuals you want to market to may be using. Using different keywords helps prevent the distribution of duplicate content, something you always want to avoid.
Finally, keeping the content of your website fresh is very important to climbing the ranks of search engines. Setting up a content creation program that will allow you to add new keyword optimized content pages to your website will keep your site new and constantly refreshing. The more you introduce fresh content to your site, the more often the search engine spiders will have made their way to review and re-rank your site. The more that happens, the more your site moves up the ranks, delivering all the more organic SEO traffic that is the power behind the most powerful sites of today. So, now that we have that taken care of, go and turn your site into all that you dream of.

How do I increase traffic to my web site? That is the perennial questions in the mind of all web masters and Internet marketers. If you scan any webmaster’s forum, there are hundreds of questions all related to increasing traffic because traffic is the bloodline of a website. Without traffic, your website is dead; lost in the Internet black hole.
If you are thinking about starting link exchanges as a first step for increasing traffic than you are dead wrong. If you plan to plaster your URL in all the forums and social media sites you encounter, than you are in the wrong track. There is a wrong way and there is a way that leads to the success. Choose the road to success by following the methods described in this article.
1. Create useful websites. Start with a website that provides value to its visitor. It does not matter if you are selling a product or giving information for free, it should be some thing that others desire. Once you have a site, create useful information, how to guides, and easy tools that benefit your site visitors.
2. Write articles. Writing articles and submitting to article directories exposes your site links to others and establishes you as an authority in your topic. The key to successful article writing is quality. After you finish writing your article, ask yourself if you would read the same article if a newspaper or magazine prints it. If you are not going to read your own article, why do you think others will spend their time on your writings?
3. Use forums. You site must have at least a forum. Forum is an excellent way to receive feedback from your visitors and customers. This helps you improve your offerings by using the voice of the customers.
Make it a routine to visit at least one forum related to general online marketing or your niche everyday. You should create your site link in the forum signature. Reply to a few threads with some insights and thoughts. Also, once a week start your own thread by asking thought provoking questions, writing a good how-to article, or sharing valuable information with others. Never try to sell any thing in these forums.
4. Blog regularly. Besides a forum, you should also start a blog where you can write about your thoughts and insights on the topic related to your site. You don’t have to post every day. But make it a regular habit of posting one article a week.
Subscribe to blogs related to your niche and read them everyday. Share your thoughts and link to other blogs as references in your post. With out links, a blog is useless. Once you start sharing links of other blogs in your writings, others will start referring your blogs in their posts. Also take the challenge of writing guest posts in other blogs in the same niche as yours. This is an instant quality backlink to your site.
5. Participate in social media. Social media is the latest web traffic magnet. Encourage your readers to submit your posts to digg and stumbleupon by providing some means to easily submit your stories. You should also regularly submit relevant articles and sites that you think will benefit others. Create a facebook group related to your niche and also join a few groups in facebook that are relevant to your site. Participate and share useful information in these groups. Sign up with twitter and ask your visitors to follow you on twitter. Using twitter, inform your followers about the latest sales announcements, site maintenance schedules, etc.
Creating web sites that are useful to others and using article marketing, forums, blogs and social media will lead to sustainable web traffic.

Contrary to popular belief, you don’t need to be an SEO “guru” to rank well in the Search Engines. There are only a handful of things you need to do in order to rank well. Those who concentrate on what’s important will quickly pass those who spend their time worrying about all of the little things that may or may not increase their rankings!
Below you will find the 5 most important SEO factors:
1: Links – The quantity and quality of the links on the WWW which point to your site and it’s subpages is the #1 off-page SEO factor! When it comes to top Search Engine rankings the most influential factor really is the incoming links! Submit articles and do selective link exchanges to give your site a push-start and let your good content (below) bring it to the top!
2: Title and META Tags – The title and META description of each individual page is the most important on-page SEO factor! Craft your title and description in a way that is both Search Engine friendly (contains your primary keyword) and user friendly (convinces them to click.) Remember, if it is full of keywords and not user friendly, your rankings will not matter, as no one will click. If it is user friendly, but doesn’t contain your main keyword, you will not rank as high as you would if it had your keyword (in most cases.)
3: Internal Linking – A good internal linking structure will not only show the SE’s which of your pages are more important, it can actually increase the rankings of those pages! Use the rel=”nofollow” attribute on links that don’t need any “link juice” like your contact pages, about pages, affiliate links and duplicated pages.
4: Quality Content – Quality content will bring in “natural” links. If you’re spitting out low-quality, rehashed content, you won’t impress anyone. If you do not impress anyone your job will be much harder, as you’ll have to manually build all of your links.
5: Keyword Density doesn’t Matter – “Keyword Density” is no longer important. With the implementation of “Latent Semantic Indexing” (LSI) most major Search Engines do not rank a page higher because it contains a keyword a set number of times. Just write natural content and good things will come!
So to recap, build solid incoming links, compose a good title and META description, create a solid internal linking structure, write quality content and don’t worry about keyword density!
This is the strategy that has worked for me in order to obtain front-page ranking for many competitive terms and I’m confident it will for you as well!
