Binge Eating – it Could be Worse!

November 17, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

What if there was something attached to our mind so that we could record everything that we told ourselves, good and bad? I bet we would be surprised to realize that we talk worse to ourselves than anyone else does. We are literally our worst enemy, and this is everyone, not just people that have binge eating disorder.

Our negative self-talk starts as soon as we wake up in the morning. It really gets going when we take that first look in the mirror, step on the scale, put on a shirt that’s just a little too snug to make us comfortable, or binge eat. This is about the time that we start beating ourselves up and take it another step further… We turn everything about our body into something negative.

It’s not just about the scale; we obsess about that extra pound. Instead of looking in the mirror and appreciating something on our face, we go crazy about that pimple that seems so monstrous. Instead of forgiving ourselves for that last binge, we think way too much about all of the food we consumed three hours ago, which doesn’t help anything. It’s an endless cycle.

Our fears about our looks naturally lead us to compare ourselves with others all of the time. We always wonder why we can’t be as pretty, popular, or skinny as her or her or her, or all of the models that stare at us from magazines, television, and movies. Let’s face it: We are obsessed, but will never win when we put ourselves up against stylists, airbrushes, and plastic surgeons.

It’s very normal to compare ourselves. It’s just part of human nature. However, it is so detrimental to our own happiness, not to mention when we are trying to end binge eating disorder.

If we must compare ourselves to someone else, what if we did it in a more healthy way? Instead of wishing we looked like Jessica Alba or Angelina Jolie, how about being thankful for the legs that are still attached to our body instead of the woman that lost hers while fighting for our freedom in Iraq? How about being thankful that you have both breasts that are healthy instead of a woman that is battling breast cancer? At least this kind of comparison will tap into our reserves of empathy and gratitude instead of endless self-judgments, fears, and jealousy.

When you live your life with gratitude for your situation, things just don’t seem as bad. Work daily on the fight against binge eating disorder and notice all of your successes. Be thankful for your life, binges and all, because it really could always be worse, but at least you can gain control over bingeing. The same can’t be said for losing your legs.

Blogging Directories – Great Traffic Venues

November 4, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

If you want to have more people visit your blog, there are plenty of blog directories on the Internet that you can submit your blog to in order to attract and increase traffic. With the abundance of blogs available, the idea is to submit as wisely as possible as to prevent your blog disappearing in an Ocean Of Blogs.  Here are a few guidelines:

Topic:  Most blog directories are listed by the topics that submitted blogs that cover.  Be as accurate as possible, and when give the chance to choose sub-topics, do so.

Tags:  Goes without saying. When you have the opportunity to tag your blog, fill in all the blank spaces!

Quality Blog Directories:   There are always a number of directories that seem to be well-known for quality submissions and standards.  It may require more time than you planned, but the results are worth it.  For one, Blog Catalog is a free blog directory with numerous categories such as career and jobs, writing, Iraq, and others. It has features such as featured blogs, search blogs, and look into improving your blogging.  It is a great way to promote your own blog.  Another great place to add your blog is Blog-directory.org.  Not only do they have an extensive list of categories with sub categories, you can get your blog reviewed. For the most popular blogs, it shows the amount of hits that blogs have and if they have any reviews. As well as listing by category, the blogs are also listed by location.

Blog Directories with RSS Submissions: RSSTop55- Best Blog Directory And RSS Submission Sites is a combination of blog directory submission and RSS submission.  There are paid submissions, if you desire, but there are plenty of free submissions as well. These blog directories have standards, and can rate your blog.  Don’t overlook the power of RSS.  Those with readers may prefer to subscribe to your blog rather than bookmark it.  Submit your Blog RSS every chance you have to maximize your reader base.

You never know what you will find when you browsing through the directories, and you may just find out information that you never knew. Some of the blog directories offer chat features as well, so that you can meet other people easily. If that isn’t your style, reviewing other blogs just very well may be. Some directories encourage members to review blogs.  This is a great way to mingle, meet other bloggers, get exposed to other blogging methods and tips, and even inspire and be inspired by other blogger’s content.

Manual or Automatic Submission: Often heard is the question of which one, manual or automatic submission of my blog?  Both could be of advantage and you don’t mind spending for paid submission.   Automatic submission may introduce your blog to the world quicker, and this is fine.  Manual submission has the advantage of giving you first-hand experience of what each directory is really all about: its features, it’s content, resources offered you may want to try out, and other areas of interest to you.  You may want to return or not return to a particular directory to submit another blog someday, knowing it will be reviewed, and has a clear place in the categories.

In summary, one way to generate traffic to your blog is make sure it is seen!  Submit, to at least, quality directories, choose topics and categories with care, and review other blogs!  Happy Blogging!

Use Blogging Forums for Profits

No matter what type of blog that you have, one of the best places that you can advertise your blog is to join a blogger forum. After all, everyone who posts there has a blog and that’s the main subject. It’s a great place to meet other bloggers and to advertise your blog.

There are quite a few blogger forums that you can sign up for on the internet. One is known as Bloggeries, where you can show off your blog, get your blog reviewed or review other blogs, and find lots of tools that you can use for your own blog. For more details go to www.atoz-about-rss.com. Another good place to go is to Blog Forum. Blog Forum, like Bloggeries, has spots for you to market and show off your blog. Blogger forums are a great place to advertise your blogs.

If you use your blog to advertise something that you are selling, or you want to get a lot of traffic to your blog in order to make money, you want to go someplace where it can get exposure. When you advertise on a blog forum, you know that you are placing your advertisement in a place where blogging is something that people enjoy.

Just remember when you are posting to a forum to read the rules and abide by them. That way you’ll get your blog noticed and you will know that you are doing the right thing.

If you want to have more people visit your blog, there are plenty of blog directories on the Internet that you can submit your blog to so that people will come and visit it. Most blog directories are listed by the topics that the blogs cover.

Blog Catalog is a free blog directory that offers categories such as career and jobs, writing, Iraq, and many others. It has features such as featured blogs and other things to offer those who submit their blogs there.

Another great place to add your blog is blog-drectory.org. Not only do they have an extensive list of categories with sub categories, you can get your blog reviewed. For the most popular blogs, it shows the amount of hits that blogs have and if they have any reviews. As well as listing by category, the blogs are also listed by location.

There are other blog directories on the Internet – these are only a couple of them. But blog directories are a great place to advertise your blog and to make new contacts. You never know what you find when you’re browsing through the directory and you will may just find out information that you never knew. Some of the blog directories offer chat features as well, so that you can meet other people easily. To know more about it go to www.your-own-blog.com. Blogging traffic is a give and take relationship. Sometimes one of the best ways to get traffic to your blog is by visiting someone else’s blog.

Go to their blog and read one of their posts, or read a few of them. Chances are that you are going to find something that you have in common.

When you find something that you find truly interesting on a blog, leave a comment so that they know that you were there. When you are commenting on someone’s post, you want to make sure that you don’t leave just a generic comment. If you like the post, say something about what you read in the post.

But be sure that you are sincere when you are commenting, and don’t make them feel like you’re just fishing for traffic.

Military Using Twitter

October 29, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

Finally the military jumped on the boat and is now using twitter to recruit our youth. What a great way to get their message across and get there word out there.

Our youth live in a virtual world and twitter and face book are only a couple of the social networks out there that are used to promote whatever you want.

Just like you and I who publish articles online, now the military discovered our secret and is using it just like you and me.

Will this be one of the best ways they can recruit our youth, of course. It can be done from the internet, your phone or your PDA so there is access to this realm through many ways.

They seem to be targeting youth between the ages of 18 to 24. They are not only targeting this age group but when befriended they also have access to all on their friends list, so just like us their circle grows and grows.

Generals are tweeting from Iraq with whats going on in the sand box and on missions. Videos are beiing used on Face book to explain what the service ia all about and also to show live action of whats happening in the field.

Coast Guard members are using twitter to update their status when they are traveling to keep everyone in the loop of what their jobs consist of.

How incredibly powerful these tools have become. Ya we already knew the power of twitter and tweeting and how quickly something you want spread, spread. It took them awhile, the military that is but now they seem to be getting into the loop of the people who already knew what  power these social networks posess.
