Five Good Advertisement Techniques

November 21, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

Advertisement techniques don’t have to be new to be effective. But the most effective ones in today’s modern environment are interactive, target a narrow market, and get immediate responses. This article covers five advertisement techniques that meet one or more of the above modern criteria:•    PR Advertisements•    Theatre Advertisements•    Magazine Advertisements•    Publication Advertisements•    Cable Television AdvertisementsAdvertisement Techniques 1: PR AdvertisementsPR advertisements are great at building support for your business. Usually a PR advertisement’s purpose isn’t to make a sale, but to build contacts and friends for your business. The best advertising technique for PR advertising is getting your potential supporters interacting with you and your business. Whether it’s making a telephone call, visiting a Web site or completing a form, interaction enables you to build support for your business and industry.Advertisement Techniques 2: Theatre AdvertisementsTheatre advertisements  work  effectively if it’s possible to get people to take immediate action. You need to reinforce the ad on the screen with a printed promotion like a coupon, to get people to respond immediately.Advertisement Techniques 3: Magazine Advertisements Magazine advertisements work well because magazines enable you to target a niche market and design advertisements specifically for people in the market. With so many magazines, you can always find one that targets your market, if you:•    use them as a direct approach to get readers to take action.•    make an offer that requires a quick response, •    get advertising sale people to design ads that get readers to respond.Advertisement Techniques 4: Publication Advertisements Many small business owners overlook publication advertising. Publication advertisements reach target markets well, but isn’t as good at providing interactivity or getting a quick response. You can run advertisements in everything from programs, to books and professional journals.Programs offer a targeted market, and earn good will with the organization’s supporters or fans.If a book is relevant to your product, it can reach your target market effectively. The trick to book advertisements is deciding how to pay:•    by the number printed, •    by the number distributed or •    by size of the ad. If you are targeting people in a certain profession, advertising in their professional journals can reach your target market. Advertisements in professional journals provide good value because members pay to receive the journals. They are interested in nearly anything that helps them to better succeed in their professions.Advertisement Techniques 5: Cable Television Advertisements Cable television advertisements are usually less expensive than regular television advertisements. Many small business owners can afford to use cable television advertising to promote sponsorships, product placements and air sponsor-supplied programming. Advertisement Techniques: Conclusion The trick to using all advertisement techniques is to design ads that get attention and encourage target market members to respond quickly by visiting a web site, calling a telephone number, or some other contact method. And the more interactive, you can make your advertisements, the better.

Social Media Optimization: New Trend in SEO

November 20, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

In the earlier days SEO was all about optimizing the various pages of a site. However today with the advent of Web 2.0 things have changed dramatically. The very structure of sites has changed and social media sites seem to be the norm these days. That is one reason why social media optimization is a whole new form of optimization these days.Sharing and spreading the word

The Internet is all about sharing information and enhancing interactivity with users. Social media sites have taken this concept to a whole new level. The way social media optimization works is that it helps propagate a website more effectively. It helps in added important elements and aspects to a particular website and also improves the overall quality of a site dramatically. Improved link ability

One of the good things about SMO is that it allows your site as well as others to link back and to each other. However the good thing is that instead of the linkages happening on a random basis it is on a necessity basis. So if you feel the need to link to another site or vice versa then you can proceed with linking otherwise no. Useful information

This new form of search engine optimization is all about helping a website gain prominence naturally amongst search engine listings. The idea is to get as many sites to link back to your site as possible. Therefore the natural deduction would be that in order to get more linkages you would need to improve on your site’s content so that it is useful to other websites. Methods employed in this tactic

The main focus of such social book marking methods is to use tools and techniques like white papers, writing blogs, churning out interesting articles with appropriate keyword density and creating an increasing number of RSS feeds as well as press releases. Thus these are the various methods used in enhancing the social media influence of your website online.Target audience

One of the main aspects to gain success in social book marking is to make your content appropriate to your target audience. In order to do this you will firstly need to define and identify the demographics of your target audience. Then you need to establish the preferences of this target set and finally create a business plan around this. Even your optimization efforts should revolve around this plan. The more niche your content and offerings are the more are your chances to quickly get listed on popular search engines. Plus it will make other social sites seem more interested in your site and link back too!

5 Types of Business Blogs

November 19, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

Before you even start creating your blog you need to be clear on what kind of content that your prospects and customers want and have need of.

Then you can start to figure out how you’re going to “package” this content. What I mean by that, is how are you going to present the information – what type of blog are you going to have?

Although blogs are as individualistic as each business is, there are 5 common types of blogs that businesses use:

1. consultant blog

- usually is one person sharing their opinions, observations and advice

- a way to highlight your expertise in a specific area and build an active readership who trust you to guide them

- used by service-based businesses such as professional organizers, marketers, coaches, financial planners and so on

2. specialty blog

- written by one or more contributors who focus on a subject of shared interest (i.e. weight loss, spiritual practices, golf, animal lovers, car collectors)

- builds an online community and encourages connection and interactivity

- used by businesses that service that particular common interest in some way

3. feature blog

- showcases creative type of business

- can have lots of pictures of recent projects, video clips, audio clips of songs/music, links to an online store, information and sign up for events

- used by artists, designers, musicians, performers, illustrators, authors, speakers, custom furniture makers, auto builders

4. industry blog

- usually are companies that specialize in a very narrow area of their industry and often sell to other businesses

- provides information on anything that impacts the industry: trade shows, materials, new product lines, equipment innovations, industry news and shipping news

- used by manufacturers, engineering, construction, insurance, machinists and so on

5. tourist blog

- features the local area with lots of pictures and information showcasing the area

- a way to provide information for people visiting, such as: updates on upcoming events, local weather, favorite places to visit, FAQs and so on

- used by tourist attractions, water-sport companies, fishing guides, ski hills, art, music and film festivals, bed and breakfasts, and many other similar types of businesses

Take some time to figure out which type of blog would serve the information needs of your target group and the needs of your business the best.

But don’t forget to make sure it’s also something that you connect with and feel comfortable promoting and doing on a regular basis – as a blog is definitely a commitment for you!

Using Business Blogs For Marketing Your Company

November 18, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

An increasing number of businesses are establishing an online presence. As a cheaper alternative to websites, they are turning to blogs to promote their products and services. Business blogs are also a good way for companies to communicate directly with their clients. Thus, business blogs are now an invaluable tool for marketing.

How can businesses use blogs to do effective marketing? They can exploit the immediacy of blogs. Blogs are easy to update so posts on new products and services, as well as announcements of upcoming sales, discounts and bargains, can go up on the site as soon as they are written. To complement these posts, you can also include photos and embed videos. In addition, contests can be run on the blog site, which would not only promote the business but also build traffic to the blog.

Blogs also allow for a high level of interactivity between the blogger and the visitor. You can engage your customers by inviting them to post suggestions and share their ideas on your products and services. Blog posts can also be used to answer frequently asked questions. The posts can be updated as new questions arrive.

The secret to a successful business blog is to have new posts frequently. People would lose interest in visiting the site if it is not constantly updated, and it may result in lost customers. A professional-looking design for the blog would also help a lot in making people take your business seriously.

The possibilities in using a business blog for marketing are seemingly endless. Businesses just have to be aware of how to exploit them.

Introduction to Business Blogging

November 18, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

Business blogs are primarily used to improve a company’s communication both internally and externally. Business blogs are a type of communication channel that could be used effectively in product launches, team interaction internally within the company or interaction between clients and company. With the level of interactivity blogs provide, clients feel more confident in the company. Not to mention the amount of traffic it brings to the main site.

Personal and business blogs: What is difference between two?

There is not much of difference between personal and business blogs visually but there is a fine difference between them in terms of reputation and brand attached.

Business blogs should be well planned before hand. Companies can’t afford to just walk away after launching their blog. Business blog has to be successful. Constant and consistent posts are the rule of the game. Blogsphere is full of best writers and faster one learns their rule, better for them. Companies can’t just rely on the fact that they are market leaders in their business so they will be successful with their blogs too.

The postings on business blog should be open and should portray personality of the writer and the company. The postings on business blogs should be very informal, and should be written in first person voice. Posts should be informative and relevant with an expert touch to it.

Business Blogs and it content:

According to search engine optimizers, “Content is King”. Indeed this is true for websites but not for a blog. Blog is all about writing with a particular voice and personality. A lot of people would like the style and would stick to the blog with regular visits. A lot of them will hate it and would never return.

Content for a business blog should be written in a strong voice with high consistency in quality. It becomes somewhat difficult to maintain quality with regular postings, but no choice. A few bad or substandard posts and regular visitors to the blog will fly off.

Important

Don’t hammer your visitors every time with posts like how great is your product and so on. Add some funny incidences or bit of humor to your postings. Talk something about how employees enjoyed drinks in a party organized at particular department. Add some lighter moments in between posts.

3 questions to answer BEFORE you create your blog

November 18, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

You “get” that a blog is a great marketing tool. And you want to jump on the bandwagon…but are you starting in the right place?

For many people, the first step they take is to research and find the correct blog software and then jump in and start creating their blog (or get someone else to do it).

But I believe this isn’t the right place to start with your blog.

First you need to decide what kind of content you’re going to provide via your fabulous new business blog.

There are 3 things you need to do in order to figure out what kinds of valuable information you want to write your blog posts on.

The first thing is to be clear on the following questions:

o your target group: what do they need and what kind of information do they like?

o your objective: what are you trying to achieve with your blog?

o your level of involvement: are you going to be the only one making posts or will you have guest bloggers?

o your money and time resources: how much time and money do you have to spend on it?

o your level of interactivity: how interactive are you going to be – run contests, have comments, show videos and post audio clips?

The second things you need to do is make sure that the content on your blog is important to your target group or niche.

Like a website or any other marketing communications you do, your blog needs to be something that your target group finds valuable and has need of. So you need to choose content that you know your prospects and clients want.

There are several ways to find this out:

- research the needs of your target market

- do a survey

- get feedback from your current clients and customers

- get clear on what problem your target audience wants solved and the benefits you offer

The third thing is to decide which of these two categories you fall into:

a) those that provide information by writing about it

b) those that provide information by linking to it – other blogs, news sources, other media, YouTube, etc.

Many blogs and bloggers combine a mixture of the two – it all depends on how you want to structure your blog content. As well, do you want to be known as the expert on a subject or the person who is an expert on where to find the experts?

So before you even start looking at blog software and figuring out how your blog is going to look, spend time figuring out what kind of content your blog is going to provide on an ongoing basis.

Then hav’at’er picking those colours and templates!

Buzz Creation for Business Blogs

November 18, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

Blogs are alive and kicking on the internet. Blogging has phenomenally changed the landscape of the web. It has dramatically influenced and changed businesses. Businesses will have no option but to accept this reality. They are not alone providing their information on the web. The same information is being competitively provided by competitors who are fighting to have a share of the lucrative blogging pie. Buzz creation for business blogs therefore should rank top priority for those businesses that are out on the internet to create a market for their niches and to succeed in their online campaigns.

In the culture of blogging, it is imperative to speak with a voice that should be activated on a personal level. That is to say, communication with the blogger at the other end should be more personalized. It should be the same treatment for customers, who are in effect assets to your business. You can create buzz by constantly engaging your customers and bloggers alike in conversations that should be honest and transparent. Bear in mind that only meaningful conversations will bear fruit. These will develop positive experiences that will be relished by your customers as well as bloggers.

Blogging requires participation on your part. It requires two-way traffic for communication to be real and interactive. There is so much interactivity and feedback to be captured amongst customers, suppliers, partners and employees. To best achieve this objective of effective communication , there are guidelines that will help in this area.

(1) Always be a good and sharp listener

Conversations are abuzz everywhere. You can notice customers, suppliers, your partners and even your employees talking, engaging in conversations at any time of the day. The imperative issue is not the quantity of feedback that you are provided with, but the quality of the feedback. Quality feedback includes both constructive and destructive feedback. Such feedback may throw light on certain issues that have not been apparent to you before. Comments from such feedback are too precious to be discarded. It is therefore important to learn to listen to more feedback from conversations around you.

(2) Understand feedback without prejudice

Feedback provided needs to be evaluated. This process of evaluation must be done without any prejudice on your part. A fair understanding of the comments will help you to achieve a fair conclusion. The feedback is precious finding, and it comes from a customer that is an asset to your business. Therefore, give credit where it is due. Give value to the feedback. Do not forget to accord value to your customers too for the generous feedback they have given you. Always eliminate prejudice as far as understanding of the comments and feedback are concerned.

(3) Be generous with giving value

Buzz creation for business blogs requires the endorsement of value for every conversation that is going on in your business. Conversations can be from anyone in your business hierarchy. Forget the garbage perception that certain feedback and contributions are not worth your attention. Every conversation deserves a listening ear, simply because it may offer the best and most viable solution to a current issue in the business. Value every conversation, be it coming from the lowest ranked employee or coming from the top hierarchy of your business. In a nutshell, be generous in giving value to your business blog, blog contributions, employees who blog, customers who blog, as well as to other bloggers.

(4) Show your conviction

Blogging requires you to know what your business will be in for. There will be much conversations that you will have to be involved in. Conviction on your part is essential if your business is ready and has something valuable to offer. Always use the passion that is in your business blog to trigger more passion from your customers. This process requires you to readily participate in the interpretation and evaluation of all blog conversations. Your business blog best serves this purpose. Always show to others that you are convicted to your business, and you intend to serve them efficiently.

(5) Stand out and speak up

Have your voice ready. This is integral to the culture of blogging. Make communication effective and provide valuable contributions that others can learn from you. You are the best person in your niche . It is therefore important that you speak up and give the best presentation that others will appreciate and not forget. Speak with passion and with quiet authority behind you. Your customers, as well as other bloggers, will listen – attentively.

Blogging provides the opportunity to expand your business. Communication will be more personalized. Businesses will gain visibility on a wider horizon. These are the real benefits that you can get from buzz creation for business blogs.

Ways that news organizations can use social networks

November 16, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

Consumer demand for instant service has shifted the trend towards online communication. Online social networking users are growing rapidly. Their market share has increased by approximately five times since 2005 – 8% to 38% today. People are looking to get value out of their social practice and social media is here to offer them a valuable social experience.

Social networking is beneficial for organizations. Particularly, news organizations, innovators by nature, are looking for alternative profitability opportunities via more knowledgeable and productive enterprise solutions that can drive innovation into products faster.

One of the reasons that social networking has attracted so much attention is because it aligns with the organization’s aspiration to reach out to broader communities. By offering the enormous potential to operate in a secure interactive environment, social media drive primarily behavioral changes in journalism.

The availability of faster and cheaper Internet access has increased people’s connectivity globally. Anyone involved in the news industry knows that connectivity and interactivity in the form of e-mails, blogs, hyperlinks and podcasts is the door to a broader audience.

Today, news organizations become members of existing online communities. With the enormous advancement of technology, the news industry can inform the public instantly, efficiently and interactively using several methods.

Through corporate blogs, news organizations enable community members to comment on the company’s marketing and branding strategies in an interactive format that allows instant communication. For instance, the organization may post breaking news the moment they happen and receive instant feedback on its practices from millions of users who will be online at that moment.

By setting up passports accounts in various social networking sites, news organizations extend their branding strategies. Some of the most used social networking sites are Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, Digg, StumbleUpon, Wordpress, Technorati and LinkedIn.

Participating in corporate forums offers the opportunity to interact with other community members who share the same aspirations and face the same challenges. News organizations can measure their influence and develop new strategies so as to attract a larger audience.

Social networking has also its challenges. The first and most difficult step is to identify the audience. Where do people spend time online? There is a plethora of social networking sites. They are all potential places to find followers, and each has it strengths and weaknesses. The trick is in knowing how to use them.

Large sites such as Facebook have millions of users, and hence, a great potential audience. On the other hand, because the audience is huge, the message that the organization aims at conveying may not be heard. Therefore, news organizations, typically, use large sites as a hub to place billboards and not to create significant relationships with community members. In contrast, smaller sites are, normally, dedicated to specific causes and, hence, the audience is smaller. Consequently, news organizations use smaller sites to convey specific messages.

Another challenge is that the fact that there are journalists who regularly use online communities in a provocative way. They may use Facebook or MySpace for personal promotion and connection with personal friends rather than promoting their organization through their work. All these behaviors require balancing mechanisms that can set clear boundaries between personal and professional.

In effect, social networking is about building relationships with the audience. Promoting good journalistic work over social networks is an efficient method for getting stories out and attracting audience. To achieve that, news organizations need to use social media authentically and transparently and promote open communication with their audience. In addition, they need to create and maintain interactive platforms that can support a two-way dialogue of innovative media outlets so as to facilitate the increasing number of visitors in social network sites.

Being a strong advocate of simplicity in life, I love my family, my partner and all the people that have stood by me with or without knowing. And this is so needless after all.
