Web Designing: -designing Your Web Site for Seo?

November 15, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

You are working on driving home based business opportunity leads to your web site. You have decided to implement SEO (search engine optimization) to get traffic to your web site. What should you be doing to optimize your web site for SEO to get better search engine results? And the answer is “not much”.When you get right down to it, you really just need to concentrate on designing your web site and marketing it as if search engines do not exist! You do need to make sure your web site is optimized with the right keywords and that includes your internal linking to pages. You do also need to make sure your code is good to go. For more details go to: www.10-website-programming-tricks.com For example, you do not want to grab a Wordpress template and find it has a “no index” imbedded in it which would keep search engines like Google from indexing your site. All in all though, if you concentrate on your keyword phrases for your niche to enable people to find your site, you just want to concentrate on content because “Content is what this is all about”!I guess what I am trying to say is that…if you concentrate and think only about what those who would visit your site would want to see, you will actually be doing the best thing you can for SEO. The design and marketing of your web site should be optimized for the traffic you are catering to.The design of your web site should be somewhat rich with the keyword phrases you are pursuing, but not overwhelming. You need to be careful using JavaScript and flash for the only reason that they cannot be crawled by search engines. You need to look at it this way. You should make your site as much of a pleasing experience to whoever lands there. It should also have good functionality as far as getting around it. If people have to figure out what they should do for any reason, they will leave.Doing search engine optimization is one thing but what happens when someone lands there? All the SEO in the world will not help you if that home based business opportunity lead is not attracted to your site. For can visit to: www.29web-design-tricks.com they say it takes a person an average of seven seconds to make up their minds in whether or not they should stay.Driving high quality leads to your web site means nothing if they do not stay. Design, functionality, and content are of the utmost importance to your site.Search engines like Google are not the enemy! They all make their money with advertising. They have (give or take) around 100 algorithms that determine the rankings of every given web site. If you work hard and do things every day by providing good quality original content, your site will get to the top of the listings! If you are just now working on using SEO for your lead generation campaign, know that it takes time and a lot of work. Achieving a high SERP (search engine ranking page) is definitely worth it though. Know that you are competing with many others and there are many algorithms in place to make sure everyone is on an even playing field.Marketing involves many things. I believe though that if you design your web site for your visitors and you are constantly working with content, you will succeed!

Getting Your Articles in Google News – Myths and Facts

November 14, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

The Google News team made an interesting post titled “Psst… secrets of Google News exposed!” at official Google blog. The post explained about various Myths and facts related with Google news. Posted by Andy Golding, Software Engineer at Google, Andy also shared about how Google include and publish (rank) articles in Google news.

Coming directly to Myths and facts explained.

1. Updating article once it’s included in Google news helps in higher rankings.

False, According to Google the current Google news crawler doesn’t revisit the articles. Every article/news in crawled only once so changing or updating the article will not help at all in fact any changes you make will not be shown at Google news website. I hope Google news crawler will soon have the functionality of revisiting the WebPages.

2. Placing image next to article improves the rankings.

False, Google do include images in news results and displays them next to your news item, but it cannot read the images and rankings purely depends upon text accompanied in your news item and not on having images in the news.

3. Articles with images and video are not included.

True, Google crawler cannot read flash, videos, images and other such type of multimedia content. Thus it’s a fact that if you new release or article doesn’t contain any text accompanying images or multimedia content then it will not be included at all in news results.

4. Time is a major factor for inclusion.

False, Google crawlers are frequently looking for content related to current event and top stories. There are lots of factors that Google algorithms take into consideration and choose the best articles from the cluster for ranking. Publishing articles prior, after or in midst of any event don’t improve any chances of rankings at all.

5. Articles with Google adsense ads rank high in Google news.

False, well this is the most disputed topic among webmasters not only for Google news ranking but also for Google organic results also. Google had always denied this fact and according to goolge spokesman, “Using AdSense doesn’t have any impact upon our ability to crawl or rank your articles. We try to stay as objective as possible, and giving sites with our ads product a boost, well, that wouldn’t be very objective!”

6. Creating sitemap helps.

True, sitemaps may not help in achieving top rankings but they do definitely help in other way like meta data for our article, specifying category the news would be appear, specifying which articles should appear in google news etc.

7. Redesign or change in site structure may affect my coverage in news rankings.

True, any drastic change in website design or structure, layout etc may cause problems with crawling of your article and hence overall coverage over google new may be affected.

My Top 10 Iphone Applications

November 11, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

I’m sure most of you have heard about Apple’s new iPhone and all the different functionality it has to offer, so I’ll spare you the details. What I will share with you are the top ten applications that I enjoy and use on a daily basis.

1. ZenBe Lists – This is a to-do-list application that lets you itemize your daily tasks. The app features a minimalist green user interface, extremely functional features, and a free price tag. I find ZenBe Lists to be above and beyond other to-do-list applications, which is why I chose it as part of my everyday apps.

2. NetNewsWire – Sorting through my feed list is much more efficient on the iPhone as opposed to on the web. That’s where NetNewsWire is so helpful; this application is an RSS reader just like its parent Newsgator only for the iPhone. So if you’re one to enjoy news feeds then make sure you review NetNewsWire.

3. Twinkle – This is a great Twitter application. If you’re asking yourself what a twitter is, don’t feel too bad. Twitter is a website that allows you to blast out short updates about your daily life (“I’m at home on Appcraver looking at this new game, and then I’m going to the market”) to your friends and people that want to track you. So what’s so special about Twinkle? Well the main differentiator is that it knows your location. It taps into the iPhone GPS and adds your current location to all of your tweets! You can also keep track of nearby twinkles.

4. Facebook – It seems nowadays everyone is obsessed with checking their Facebook; well at least I am. This application makes it easier; it gives you one touch access to all of your friends, your profile and inbox. You can even ping anybody who is online and start chatting instantly. The best part is you have immediate access to your Facebook inbox and you don’t have to login every time. Oh and did I mention it’s free.

5. Shazam – This totally free application is a life saver! Have you ever heard a song that you loved so much, but didn’t know the name of it or who the artist was? Well with this application you can solve that problem once and forever. All you do is hold the iPhone up to the music that’s playing and hit the “Tag Now” button. Shazam does the rest! A couple seconds later it will return the name of the artist, record cover and name of the song right to your iPhone.

6. Pandora – This next application is great for parties or whenever you want music playing but don’t want to assume control of the songs. All you have to do is type the name of a band, and Pandora will create a custom “radio station” around that band, which includes songs from the band itself, as well as songs that “sound like” that artist. Pandora is an amazing application for music discovery, pick a channel and let Pandora be the DJ.

7. Bloomberg – Finally a finance application that I can use to constantly stay up-to-date on markets around the world. Bloomberg offers news, stock quotes, company descriptions, top performers, price charts, market trend analysis and more. Although painful at times, I enjoy following my list of stocks. Your probably wondering what this type of app costs, well it’s free.

8. AOL Instant Messenger – AIM for the iPhone is a great product, and works just the way you would expect it to. But it does have a drawback that tends to bug me. Unless the application is open, you don’t get alerted when you receive a message. I don’t know about you, but when I get a message I want to be notified instantly. With the iPhone it presents a problem because as of now you can only have one application open at a time.

9. Movies – The new Movies application allows you to search local theaters for show times, view movie details, and watch movie trailers. There isn’t much to complain about this app, it was designed well and pays close attention to detail. What’s amazing about it aside from the free price tag is that it was developed by a college sophomore who sold it to Flixter.

10. Calendar – Number ten on my list goes to the Calendar application. You’re probably thinking, “Wait doesn’t that come with the iphone?” The answer is yes, it does come with the iPhone, which is probably why it’s such a great application to begin with. I use this calendar every day to manage my schedule, after this app I simply refuse to go back to my old desktop schedule.

There you have it, my top ten iPhone applications that I can’t live without. For more information on any of the above mentioned apps or new iPhone applications visit Appcraver.com.

12 Free application you should have

November 11, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

MY OPINION * You know that there’s lots of free software out there – but you also know that some of it is better than others. * So when you’re first starting out, how do you choose what to use? And isn’t software you pay for always going to be better? Not necessarily. * While there is of course a lot of really great paid software out there, there are also many free applications that have much, if not more of the functionality of their paid competition. * Open source in particular often has the advantage of being so well tested by so many different developers that the software can be more stable that the paid alternative. * There are some advantages to buying software – most paid applications have a degree of support attached, which means if something goes wrong, you have an email address or a phone number to contact. * With free software, more often than not, you don’t have any direct support. * There are however typically forums and guides out there though that cover most of the most common issues associated with the software. * Here I’ve arranged a list of my 12 favorite free applications and why I like them. * Many of these are used by all the Affilorama staff as-well. * While many of you may be familiar with some of these applications, I encourage you to check out the other ones if you haven’t already.1. Firefox * Many people never consider changing there web browser from the one that comes with their computer. * If that’s you and you’re still using Internet Explorer or Safari, I highly recommend you check out Firefox. * Not only is it a highly stable browser that doesn’t run into many of the problems that Internet Explorer does, it also has an awesome range of free plugins that provide some incredible functionality – including some SEO and Social Media plugins that I’ve listed below which I also recommend you check out.Plugins: * SEO Toolbar: From the gurus over at SEOBook.com, SEO Toolbar extension for Firefox gives you heaps of information for any page you’re on, including Google Pagerank, links to the domain, page links, directory links, site age, monthly unique visits and traffic value. * Firebug: Firebug brings a whole bunch of great web-development tools into your browser, allowing you to edit and debug as well as view all the CSS, HTML and JavaScript on any web page. * Social Media for Firefox: This handy little plugin makes it easy to see the popularity of a page on the social bookmarking services Digg, Delicious, Mixxx, Reddit, StumbleUpon and Sphinn as well as Twitter and Tip’d. Also allows you to submit content to these services really easily from the bottom of your browser. * Google Toolbar: While Firefox comes with a Google Search box, the Google toolbar gives you more functionality as well the ability to access your Gmail from any page you’re on. Bit.ly Preview: Ever weary of those shortened URLs on Twitter? This handy little tool allows you to preview what the site is you will be sent to as well as giving you the ability to shorten URLs and copy them to the clipboard just from the right click menu. * SearchStatus: Another great SEO toolbar, giving Pagerank, Alexa Rank, Compete Rank and MozRank as well as serveral other great SEO analysis tools from a dropdown menu. * Twitbin: Access your Twitter account right from a browser sidebar. Also allows you to access your @Replies and Direct Messages, as well as quickly reply or message other users. One of the simplest and most practical Twitter apps I’ve seen.2. AVG Free * A good virus checker is one of the most important things you need on your computer, and AVG Free is the only one I ever use. * While there are a lot of other free virus checkers on the market, I just find it really reliable and easy to use. * I like it so much that I if I buy a new computer that comes with a expensive virus checker license, I will un-install it and install AVG instead!3. AdAware Free * You may have spyware or adware running on your computer and not even realize it! * Never mind the potential security risk from software that could be stealing passwords and other personal information, spyware and adware slows down your computer! And that’s just a pain. * AdAware free is one of the most popular security applications in internet history, with over 250 million downloads! 250 million can’t be wrong – this is a great piece of software.4. Zone Alarm Free * While Windows does come with a pretty good firewall, it’s not particularly customizable. * Zone Alarm is a really great application, allowing you to set what software is able to access the internet as well as blocking other computers from trying to access your system. * While it can sometimes slow things down a bit, and it takes a bit to get set up at the start (you have to set permissions on every piece of software you run), I still personally enjoy the added security.5. Open Office * Do you want Microsoft Office, but you can’t afford the hundreds of dollars it costs? Well look no further! Open Office offers a complete desktop publishing suite including equivalent applications for Word (Writer), Excel (Calc), Access (Base), Powerpoint (Impress), as well as a drawing application (Draw) and a scientific mathematics program (Math). * It can also save in Microsoft Office formats like .doc, .xls and .ppt (2003 format)6. Thunderbird + Lightning * From the same developers as Firefox, Thunderbird, an email client, combined with Lightning, a calendar add-on, offers a real, viable alternative to Outlook. * You can use it as the integrated platform, or use it as a stand alone email client and calendar application (the stand-alone calender is called Sunbird). * While it may still lack some of the functionality of Outlook, it’s still a very good piece of software providing all the functionality the majority of users require.7. Orbit Downloader * This is one of my personal favorite applications; Orbit is a download manager that monitors your browser for file downloads. * Instead of simply saving file through your browser, Orbit breaks the file into several chunks and downloads them simultaneously making the download far quicker – no matter what you’re connection speed. * It also allows you to capture and save streaming content like video and audio (though make sure you’re not copying copyrighted content). * Lastly, it keeps all your downloads in one place and allows you to organize them from the interface. * Highly recommended.8. Kompozer * A fantastic free WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) web authoring program similar to Dreamweaver. * While not offering the same degree of functionality, Komposer is designed to be very easy to use for non-technical computer users who want to create great looking web pages without knowing HTML. * Also integrates a FTP site manager for uploading your files to the server.9. Wordpress * Wordpress is one of the most popular blog platforms on the internet. * Wordpress gives you a great, customizable system for creating great looking stand-alone blogs (as oppose to blogs hosted by other services like Blogger.com). * There are also heaps of great plugins including really effective SEO plugins. * Wordpress’s popularity and ease of use is one of the reasons we included a custom Wordpress template in the recent release of AffiloBlueprint 2.0.10. Traffic Travis * There’s so much SEO software out there it can be quite hard to find something that’s easy to use, but also does everything you need it to. * Traffic Travis has heaps of features in it’s free version, including keyword tool, on-page SEO critic and PPC analysis tools. * We use this software heaps in the office, and it’s just a really reliable general SEO tool. Highly recommend.11. VideoLan * Have you ever had trouble with not being able to play a downloaded video file because it’s in a strange format or your media player says there’s some trouble with codecs? Look no further. * I have yet to find anything this program can’t play – and I often use it as a back up when my Window Media Player throws a tantrum and decides it can’t play something. * Also features a complete streaming server, and heaps of cool downloadable skins for changing the look of the player.12. Paint.Net * We all know Photoshop is a great piece of software, few of us have the money to invest in the profession-level piece of software. * Paint.Net actually started as a student project at a university, designed to replace Microsoft Paint. * Instead, Paint. * Net has grown into an application that allows you to do much of the same kind of image creation and editing you can do in Photoshop – all for free. * If you want to add some great graphics and retouched photos to your website, but don’t have the money to invest in Photoshop, I definitely recommend you check this out.

I’d like to share my lesson in the internet

How To Install A Wordpress Plugin

November 9, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

If you want to extend the functionality of your Wordpress blog, then you will want to install a Wordpress plugin that promises the utility you are looking for.  The Wordpress blogging platform is an amazing tool by itself, but some people demand more from the platform so that it can be the perfect content management system for their needs.

For example, the Wordpress blogging platform cannot display Google AdSense ads automatically.  If the blog owner wants to stream AdSense ads on his pages, he will have to fiddle with the HTML code of the said blog.  With a specific type of Wordpress plugin however, like AdSense Manager among others, you can automate the display of AdSense ads on particular areas of each page of the blog.

Wordpress plugins are perfect for people who don’t have a deep working knowledge regarding how the blog works.  Even veteran internet marketers will say that they’re not savvy enough to know each and every trick possible with Wordpress.  By installing Wordpress plugins that fulfill the needs that users want to be added to the Wordpress platform, blogging – and content management for that matter – becomes a much easier task.

There are so many Wordpress plugins available today.  In fact, a great number of Wordpress blogs make good use of numerous plugins to the point that they don’t look like blogs that are produced by the original Wordpress platform.  They become absolutely stunning, outstandingly dynamic, and highly functional websites that rival the best products that complicated content management systems like Joomla and Mambo produce.

Not many people know how to install Wordpress plugins, however.  This is what this article is all about.

Installing Wordpress plugins is actually very easy.  If you know how to use Wordpress, it will only to take you a minute or less to learn how to install Wordpress plugins.

The foregoing, of course, is the manual approach in installing Wordpress plugins.  Newer versions of Wordpress, at least as far as the default theme is concerned, allow for the automatic installation of plugins from admin dashboard itself by going to Plugins>Add New and browsing the file to be uploaded and installed.  The Wordpress plugin must be in .zip format for this to work.  Some Wordpress themes do not carry such a feature, however.

Wordpress plugins are fantastic ways to make your blog better and more suitable for your needs, and with the absolute ease by which these plugins can be installed, you don’t have an excuse not to make the most out of them.

Why You Should Learn How to Make a Blog With Wordpress

November 9, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

If you start your blog on the wrong platform, you are asking for trouble. Think about this: if your start your blog the wrong way, you could lose all of your search rankings and many of your readers when you try to change gears. Don’t let this happen to you! Start the right way, right from the start. So “Which blogging platform is best?” I hear you asking. The answer is simple. After years of blogging and using platforms inside and out, it all comes down to WordPress being the hands-down winner. Here are a few reasons why. WordPress has an extensive theme directory. Themes are used to change the look and feel of your blog. You don’t need to know how to design or code a thing. There are thousands of free, premium, and specialty themes to choose from.WordPress has an extensive plug-in directory. Plug-ins enable you to add interesting functionality to your blog. How about a map of your recent readers? Adding a contact form to your about page? Showcasing affiliate products? You can choose third-party plug-ins or even create your own. WordPress offers complete administrative control over your blog. There are very few things that you can’t do with your WordPress blog if you’re self-hosting. My stock answer when anyone asks: “Can I do _____ with WordPress?” is “You can do ANYTHING with WordPress.” It won’t make you coffee in the morning, but it’ll handle most everything else.WordPress has excellent user management, using a role-based security model that supports multiple levels of access. For example, authors can write articles, editors can publish those articles after approval, administrators can change the design of the blog. This is incredibly convenient if you want to allow multiple authors to write posts for a blog, or perhaps set up a membership site. Forget about hiring a developer; just use WordPress’s built-in user registration functions.WordPress has an active and enthusiastic contributing developer community. This means that software updates are frequent, bugs are fixed regularly, the software is mature, and requested features are actually added to the product by people who care about and use the product. The WordPress community is a reason why WordPress is such a powerful and easy-to-use product.WordPress has an easy-to-use page editor. With pages, you can really blur the lines between what is a web site and what is a blog. Pages allow you to store static content (i.e. content that isn’t regularly updated). It’s free! There are other free blogging packages out there, but none offer the same combination of power and simplicity that WordPress offers. Here’s an interesting exercise: Google “moving to WordPress” and see how many results are returned. People are switching to WordPress software for a reason. In a nutshell, if you’re blogging, you need to be using WordPress. It’s that simple. WordPress has built a fanatical community and support base for a reason: they’re the best.

How Much Money Do You Need to Start a Business?

November 7, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

A question I get asked frequently is how much money is required to start a business.  It’s probably on e of the toughest questions to answer because there are so many variables involved.   My usual answer is that it takes anywhere from a couple hundred dollars to several million.  Why such a wide margin?  Well if you are interested in opening a manufacturing plant such as a solar manufacturing company, it’s going to take millions of dollars.  On the other hand, if you are planning to open a pool cleaning service it might only take a few hundred.  Let’s take a look at some of the variables of starting a business.

 Technology

  • Obviously if your business is going to be online you will have technology requirements that where you will either need expertise or money to outsource.  But even if your business is primarily offline, you will need to have some online presence via a website or blog.  Let’s assume you sell products or services and need a 5 to 10 page website in the beginning.  Here are the costs involved:
  • Website development will be anywhere from 1,000 to 2,000 and maybe more.  It just depends on what you need.  One thing to keep in mind, however is that if you have some time, you can buy some really cheap, good looking templates and create the site yourself.  It just takes time and a lot of patience during the learning process.  If you can get by with creating a blog, the process using WordPress is extremely easy and they have tons of plugins you can add for additional functionality.  Make sure you explore this option to see if you can use the technology.
  • Domain name fee.  This will be around $10 for a year.
  • Hosting fee.  This is a monthly fee and will be around $15 per month.
  • Merchant services fees.  If you accept credit cards for your products or services then you have to have a merchant services account.  Look for companies that don’t require an upfront fee in the beginning.  The monthly fee will be around 2.5% of your total sales.
  • Shopping cart fees.  If you have products or services that people can buy online, then you will need a shopping cart.  You can get free shopping cart systems but in many cases they will have limited functionality.  A good pay shopping cart system will cost you about $100 per month.

Business Licenses

Depending on how you structure your business the cost of setting up your business structure and getting your licenses is inexpensive.  You can create an LLC for less than one hundred dollars.  Your Federal and State tax ID’s are also really inexpensive, usually under $20.

Marketing

Marketing can range from zero dollar marketing tactics, such as free classifieds to very expensive advertising such as Television.  Marketing is one area, in the initial stages of your business where you can substitute money for time and energy.  For example, you can easily produce a video market it free on your website or videocast directories.  The major expense will be your time and energy in creating the video.  This includes all of your ads.  It’s easy to let a graphics design person create all of your content for you, but will be very expensive in the long run.

Marketing is one area where you need to do some research to find the best tactics and strategies.  Overall, if you are on a shoestring budget, you can initially do it for free regardless of whether you operate an offline or online business.  If you want to produce all of your ads yourself, you may want to invest in a desktop publishing program such as Microsoft Publisher as a tool to help you create your ads.  These applications cost anywhere from $75 to $500.  On the other hand, you could always get by initially with PowerPoint to create your ads.

Training

You may want to consider ordering some training materials to help you along in the areas where you are weak.  You can expect to pay anywhere from $10 to a couple hundred dollars for some great introductory training.

Insurance

In a lot of cases you don’t need to order business insurance.  I definitely recommend insurance in cases where the public can get injured from your product or service.   The cost of insurance is dependent on your industry.  I owned a sports bar once where I had to pay $24,000 per year in property and casualty insurance.  I know of some surgeons that pay up to $100,000 per year in malpractice insurance.  Those industries are more of the extreme examples because of the liability involved, but you need to do some research for your industry.

Fixed Overhead

If at all possible, in the early stages of your business work out of your home so you can avoid making big monthly payments for your lease and utilities.  There is enough going on in the early stages of your business than to deal with the worry of making these payments.  If your business requires leased retail or office space, you usually are required to come up with first and last month lease payment as well as a security deposit.  You will also be required to pay a utility deposit to your electric and gas companies.  You will definitely be required to carry a minimum amount of property insurance as well.  You can see that it starts getting expensive fast and if you’re in the start up phase, it’s a lot of added pressure – that is, of course, you are well financed.

Development of Your Product or Service

Don’t forget to count the money required to develop or buy your initial product or services.  Obviously this is different based on the type of business you go into so you would need to do some research to find out.

Overall, these are the primary cost factors to consider when starting your business.  Again, if you are a do-it-yourself person then you can start a lot of different businesses for a few hundred dollars.  If you prefer to outsource these tasks, then you will spend somewhere in the thousands to start your business.

4 Tips For An Effective Network Marketing Blog

November 6, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

To blog or not to blog is the question. Do network marketers need to blog? I think this is a debatable idea and one I don’t want to deal with in this article. Suffice to say, if you are a network marketer and you do not have a network marketing web presence then you are slipping behind. The times, they are a changing my friend and to be successful these days you must keep up. If you do not have your own website then a blog is the best and/or easiest way to go – partly because it’s free and partly because it’s relatively easy and partly because it works. I am going to give you 4 pointers to make sure you get started properly to have an effective network marketing blog.

First, there are several blog platforms you can use that are free and I would recommend Wordpress. Wordpress is easy and versatile and one of the most popular and Google loves it. This means it will be easier to get indexed to get traffic. Wordpress also has a lot of different plugins, something you’ll want to Google to find out about that provide additional functionality. Plus there are a lot of different themes you can use to begin your network marketing web presence, which means you’ll have a great chance to find one that suits you. So using Wordpress is one way to be sure to have an effective network marketing blog as you begin to build your network marketing web presence.

Second, be wise in choosing your theme. I’ve recently learned that when Google crawls your blog it typically reads from left to right. The reason this is important is because if you have a sidebar on the left with links or anything that is always the same then Google reads it first every time and considers it duplicate content. Duplicate content is not good and will hurt your rankings and thereby your traffic in the search engines. So pick a simple, easy to navigate theme with navigation bars on the right side allowing Google to read your new posts first. This will help to ensure an effective network marketing blog.

Third, to build your network marketing web presence you should post to your blog regularly. Update your blog at least every couple days and try to be consistent. Plus, always try to post something of value for your readers. This can possibly be the most difficult part to building an effective network marketing blog. So, it may be wise to plan ahead a little and gather information for good post topics. You can write them all ahead of time so it makes it easier to stay on track. In fact, you can set up Wordpress to auto-post for you as in every couple days or so which is something worth looking into.

Finally, and not the least import is that you should host the blog yourself and have your own domain name. You’ll get more Google love this way and rank higher in the search engines. You can find good quality hosting for less than $10 a month and a domain will cost you less than $10 a year. These four tactics will ensure you get started right to have an effective network marketing blog. Need help? Let me know.

Start A Blog

Blogging has become a central pillar in the online world. Internet technologies come and go with increasing frequency but blogging has staked a claim and is here to stay. A variety of platforms allow people to start a blog in minutes and without a penny changing hands. In addition, countless other service providers have developed widgets that can enhance a blog with additional functionality and style. This article will look at a few of the basics so you can get off to a running start.

There are two decisions you need to make right at the beginning. The first is which platform you’ll be using to build your blog and the second is whether you’ll host it on the provider’s servers or your own. Let’s look at both decisions in a bit more detail.

The two primary platforms out there are Blogger and WordPress. Blogger is owned by Google and is probably the easiest platform to get started on. It’s really designed for the novice. Functionality features are easy to use and the interface is simple and intuitive. WordPress is an open source platform. That means it’s developed by individual programmers all over the world and is available for anyone to use, free of charge.

Open source software is a fascinating phenomenon. People with all kinds of different business objectives end up developing extensions to facilitate their needs and those extensions then become available to the entire community. As a result, you can search for just about any extension you can imagine and build your own custom blog with precisely the features you want. WordPress is designed for a more sophisticated user but the advantages for the final product are substantial.

The next decision revolves around where you host your new blog. You can host it on the Blogger platform or the WordPress platform. In both cases, you would end up with a URL something like YourBlog.Blogger.com rather than your own custom URL. The upside is that it’s easier and your blog will then be part of a HUGE website. That may improve your search engine ranking. The downside is that the ultimate control is out of your hands and your branding isn’t complete. In other words, you will never have your own free-standing web address.

Once you have created your new blog, you’re well advised to register it with all the free blog directories. Not surprisingly, there are dozens of them and they can help you drive traffic. You can also cross reference other people’s comments, leaving them with a free banklink. That will help you get established in the community and encourage others to reference your comments on their blog. Depending on the blog, you could easily get the majority of your traffic from such a link.

A number of companies have developed platforms that add functionality or aggregate information and their widgets can easily be added to a blog, simply by adding a small piece of java script to your platform. This has become so common that Blogger, WordPress and others have designed specific modules to easily accept such scripts. Done properly, these widgets can make a simple blog look impressive and professional.
