How Social Media Can Boost Your Business

November 20, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

These days there are those who would argue you would have to be living under the proverbial rock to not have at least heard of social media. Even those out there who arent even slightly internet savvy have heard of Facebook or MySpace. Social media are the tools that are utilised by just such sites, and there is an increasing number of businesses out there that are developing a presence in this field as well.
With a tool such as Facebook there are businesses out there that are developing enormous followings, and this is an advantageous step to take. If you have everything in good working order, and you are well connected with your customers, then social media gives you an opportunity to feel updates directly to your customers own pages. This makes it one of the easiest possible ways to keep your customers or potential customers up to date with everything you are doing, all from the one place and simultaneously. Even email cant boast being quite so streamlined!
Another popular new social media tool that has taken off in a big way, is Twitter. This is toll that sends out short messages, around 140 characters max. To those linked into receive your updates. As with Facebook this is a direct line of communication with your customers, and if you are clever with how you use these short and sharp tweets you can get your message across to your customers in a witty and succinct format. There is also the possibility for those interested to have this linked into their mobile phones, receiving your twitters as text messages. For the originator of the tweet, it is possible to link your tweets into your web page or blog via an RSS feed.
This brings us to the other social media platform that has shown phenomenal expansion over the last little while, blogging. Few of us arent familiar with blogging these days, so the question that many are asking is how it is of benefit to a business. Well as with Facebook or Twitter this is a great format that allows direct communication with customers.
Creating a business blog however, allows you to go much further than this. For starters a blog is not limited to 140 characters! That said, a blog provides you with the opportunity to show your expertise in your area of business. You can communicate new ideas and developments to your customers and communicate with them via the blog space. Customers have the opportunity to leave comments and this allows you to develop better understanding of their particular needs.
These are only a few of the social media opportunities that are available, there is a number of others that are also worthwhile exploring if you are serious about using this format to grow your business. If you are ready to start linking in with customer and expanding and developing your direct communications, then these options are worth taking the time to explore. As marketing tools go these are some of the cheapest and easiest forms of direct communication tools around. Investigate which options to pursue, and consider the fairly small outlay for getting these up and running. Especially these tools may hold great appeal for the small business owner with the bottom line to consider.

Discover the Truth About Traffic Generation Which Most Experts Don’t Want to Reveal

November 12, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

As any online business owner knows the way to profit online is to drive high volumes of targeted traffic (or prospects) to your website and then convert them into a customer by making a sale. The first part of this equation “that of driving traffic” compared to the second part of the equation “converting a prospect into a customer” is written about, discussed and deliberated on in far greater volumes than it’s just as important partner conversions. The reason for this, we could assume, is that traffic generation is the first hurdle to be overcome in the online marketing process and thus overshadows all other elements in the equation.

More is talked about on the subject of driving traffic, than on conversion, and even, on the subjects of conversion and follow up put together, but still everyone seems to be in constant debate on how this should be done and which tactics and strategies should be deployed to create success in this endeavour. Tips, tricks and tactics are hot subjects that gather huge followings and create instant buzz, but the truth is that much of what is published on the subject of driving traffic misses I think the most important and fundamental point in this process.

Being that the process of driving traffic to your website takes physical work and the greater the intensity of this physical work, the greater the volume of traffic that will be generated. Unlike conversion which once optimised and working can be left as a systemised process, traffic generation on the one hand, needs to be viewed upon as a constant daily business activity. Yes for sure, certain elements of the traffic generation process can be systemised and left to run on autopilot, but all the other methods needed to maintain a wide and expanding funnel, that brings in new prospects and links takes physical work. For a small website this work can equate to a work schedule that would keep one person busy for the working week, constantly maintaining and expanding the traffic funnel.

Go to any one of the numerous New Media Recruitment Agencies online and trawl through their category menu and you will now see that many small and medium sized businesses are recruiting and employing Online Marketing Managers – a job designed to fill the void in a companies marketing plan. The recruitment of Online Marketing Managers should now become an essential job role in all SMB’s but what should the even smaller business owner with limited resources do to assist them in creating a high intensity, high physical work load, traffic plan?

Every business owner or online marketer should by now be aware of the fact that over 65% of all purchases, both online and offline are preceded by a search, and, if say 60% of people use Google as their primary search tool, then this fact should be alarming to all those businesses out there, that have not, even to this date realised that they may be missing out on potentially 60% of all new business.

In my household, if we need to make a purchase, the first thing my wife and I do is to type our search query into Google. We do this even for products and services we wish to purchase locally, Say, carpet cleaning. We no longer use yellow pages unless this comes up in our search results.

Another factor why so little is mentioned on the fact that traffic generation takes physical work is the fact that it is very difficult to sell a concept, training course, or instructional information to someone by explaining that the product is a blue print to driving high volumes of hot targeted traffic to your website. But you will only succeed if you spend all your working hours making this happen by applying yourself to repetitive data entry, content creation, comment posting, ad tracking, link building tasks etc. This is a concept that is hard to sell considering everyone wants a quick fix or a secret tactic, and are generally adverse to physical work if they can help it.

As a small business owner I learnt this the hard way, when I first started out on my online business career I was drawn in by much of the hype that abounds on the web over the subject of generating traffic, subsequently I purchased numerous informational products that would assist me in this endeavour.

What I learned was that to reduce the physical work load I had to leverage geo-arbitrage and outsource much of the repetitive physical work, as without this assistance I spent all my time working in my business and not on it. I also dedicated precious time figuring out how to drive traffic with Google ad words. Google Adwords has the potential to target that 60% of online surfers who conduct their product reviews and pre-purchase research through Google. But the problem for the small business owner is again how to effectively manage the amount of physical work needed to generate the volumes of traffic needed for their business against the cost in time and money to make this happen.

To resolve this issue the very small online business needs to incorporate some smart tactics to reduce the physical work load.

1. As much as possible outsource all repetitive tasks i.e. data entry, posting ads, commenting on forums and blogs, editing articles, social bookmarkings etc.

2. Leverage and optimise your ability to drive traffic through the main search engines i.e. Google, yahoo and MSN search.

This will reduce the amount of physical work and time needed to generate the volume of traffic that will be required for the business to operate profitably.

Next the small business will need to cut the cost of these activities as much as possible.

1. Use Geo-arbitrage to reduce the cost of outsourcing. Geographic arbitrage is the business process of leveraging the reduced cost of using a work force of virtual assistants or free lance specialist in a lower paid countries such as India, Philippines, Russia, and Brazil etc, this is due to currency differences and generally the lower wages cost.

2. Constantly improve your ability to optimise your search engine advertising campaigns so as to reduce your Ad spend per sale. This should be achieved by a constant process of testing and tracking each advertising campaign and by keeping abreast of other experts test results.

This article presents an overview of what it takes in reality to generate high volumes of targeted traffic to a web presence without an existing and relevant list of prospects, or by leveraging joint venture partners or affiliates

Four Powerful Twitter Tips For Beginners

October 31, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

When I first heard about twitter I was a bit sceptical. I guess I just didn’t see how extraordinarily powerful this site really was until recently. My friend RJ Pepino had built a twitter following of 21,000 in just a few months and was having people join him in his business opportunity everyday! All of these leads where free. If you’re looking to create some passive income online, build a home base business that runs on automation and build your own list of followers, you have to be on Twitter.

So I put together a Beginners guide for you to generating Leads on Twitter:

1. Twitter- Create a free Twitter account if you haven’t already done so. Don’t be shy when creating your bio, be yourself, remember you are creating relationships and connecting with people.

2. Twitbacks-Customize your Twitter background with Twitbacks. You want to stand out from the crowd.

3. Social Oomph- Make sure you use Social Oomph and create a free account. This will allow you to send automated welcome messages, aka DM’s to new followers and create settings that will automatically follow those who follow you or un follow those who do not follow you.

4. livelybrowser- Purchase the Twitter Friend Adder for $50. This is optional, but highly recommended. You can automatically add Twitter friends with this tool running in the background. It is recommended you do not add more than 100-200 friends per day or twitter will suspend your account. You can also un follow those who don’t follow you, which is recommended every 24-48hrs after adding. This is extremely handy when doing followings of 100 or more people per day, which you will need to do to build a list fast and automation, is the way to go! If you’re on a budget, just add friends manually by finding others in your same niche but that is very time consuming.

If you follow my four powerful Twitter tips you will see a great improvement in your Twitter experience.
