That’s all of the Twitter about?

November 17, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

By now if you are not a user of Twitter, you have at least heard of it. It has experienced an almost unbelievable growth in its short lifetime. Twitter is a micro-blog that anyone can participate in. Each post, a tweet, is limited to 140 characters. That’s not very long so it’s pretty easy to read a lot of posts. Twitter asks the question “What are you doing?” Some people actually use it this way… you will see things like “brushing my teeth” or “going to bed” or “eating.” However, most use it to communicate things that they consider more important than those mundane examples.

There is a lot of good and worthwhile information flowing on Twitter every hour of every day. So much, in fact, it’s a bit difficult to keep up with. There is also a surprising number of celebrities (politicians, stars, athletes) using Twitter. You can follow them all and see what they are saying. Even Barack Obama is there, and I believe he is the most followed player.

You follow anyone you want, and people follow you. Of course the more people you follow, the more tweets you will be exposed to, and the harder it will be to develop relationships with your Twitter “friends.” You have the option to communicate privately with a friend (a follower that you are following) by using the Direct Message, or DM feature. All other postings are visible to everyone, but mostly to those following you.

Twitter is so new (started mid 2006) that appropriate Twitter etiquette and protocol is just developing. It is clear that many people have likes and dislikes about what others say and/or do. It seems that the majority of users dislike being contacted automatically with a DM. This is a fairly common practice when saying welcome to new followers, except they don’t like the automatic message because it’s not personal. This can get the relationship off to a bad start. In addition, many don’t like Twitter being used for commerce but I seriously doubt that will stop. Marketers will market where they can if it brings in business. The marketing I see personally does not bother me. Remember it’s limited to 140 characters and real easy to just skip the tweet.

So, should you get involved with Twitter? Why not? It’s going to be here for awhile and it’s growing. About one year ago there were 600,000 users and now the number is somewhere north of 6 million. Twitter subscriber numbers are doubling every month. I say you better jump on now while there is still room. I should warn you though, it can be addicting!

Happy Tweeting!

What’s so Great About Twitter?

November 16, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

“What are you doing?” This is the question that Twitter asks you upon logging in or upon opening the site. Just what are you doing? If this is how the site charms its members, what’s so great about Twitter?
First, you need to know what the site is. Basically, it is a social network and micro-blogging service. If you are familiar with FaceBook, MySpace, or Multiply, then you’ll have no problems getting into Twitter.
As a social network, it aims to gather groups of people who have the same interests. As a micro-blogging service, it provides short updates on the users blogs, or even just his activities.
Twitter is all about the “tweets”, or updates. Updates are the answers to the ultimate Twitter question: “What are you doing?” What’s great about Twitter is that is only requires you 140 characters to answer the site’s central question. To many, the prescribed length of characters is seen as a limitation. On the other hand, it challenges you to say things using fewer words. After all, less is always more!
So again, what’s so great about Twitter? What makes it different from other social networking sites?
The Terms
The terms that Twitter uses are unique and interesting enough to differentiate the site from other social networks, like “tweet”, for example. Below is a list of Twitter terms that you need to be familiar with:
1.Follower – Those who have chosen to receive your tweets. Simply put, these are your friends who want to be updated about your life.
2.Following – Those whom you want to be updated about. For instance, if you are following Anna, you will receive Anna’s tweets regularly. Following Anna essentially shows that you want to know what Anna is up to as of the moment.
3.Nudge – This is a friendly reminder to your circle, urging them to give out updates. You can nudge, and you can be nudged.
The Commands
The commands used in Twitter are plain and simple, no pesky steps that need to be followed. If you want to tweet, you simply have to write your message in the small box on top of your page.
The registration process? Simply wonderful! You don’t need to key in a number of unimportant pieces of personal information. You just have to be ready with a username (and Twitter checks out the availability of that chosen name right then and there), a password, an email address, and a URL to your personal site or blog, if you have one. The registration process takes no more than 2 minutes of your time.
The Ways to Receive the Tweets
With Twitter, you are provided with more than one way of sending your tweets. This feature is perhaps the most remarkable edge of Twitter. So how can you post your 140-character updates?
1. Through your home page at Twitter.com. – This is the most widely-used method of tweeting. The home page is so friendly and is neat-looking. As such, you aren’t bothered by pesky pop-ups, complicated commands, and useless applications whose sole purpose is to make the page look heavy. Now with such an atmosphere, isn’t it nice to just randomly type in your thoughts? Even tweets such as “I’m bored” are very welcome on Twitter!
2. Through your mobile phone. – Before you can use this feature, you need to verify your number first. It can be done in a few simple steps.
Before you start, however, you initially need to check if your area or country of residence supports this type of service. Surely, those living in the US and Canada will fully enjoy the advantages of this feature.
3. Through http://www.m.twitter.com. – This is Twitter’s mobile site.
4. Through third-party applications. – Twitter Fan Wiki is the most popular third party application that uses Twitter’s API (Application Programming Interface). As it is a “wiki”, you can add, remove, and edit available content. You simply have to create an account to join this group.
Twitter is a relatively new network. Its official launching can be traced back no more than two years ago – July 15, 2006, to be exact. Despite this, it has gathered more than 3 million accounts in just over two years of operation. This shows how increasingly popular Twitter has become.
So, what’s so great about Twitter? Everything!

Twitter.com has become another great tool in the online marketer’s toolkit. If you are running an online business, you can leverage the power of twitter marketing to develop your network of clients, leads and associates.Twitter, as used by most people, is to connect with your loved ones by writing micro-blogs on what you are up to at the moment. You can use it to connect to your customers, prospects and anyone interested in your business. Apart from twitter, you can also use the many online apps that supplement twitter functionality.• Tweetergetter: How would you like to get almost 20,000 followers in a month? This is what you will get on tweetergetter.com. Join the site today and follow the steps given there. It is based on the principles of viral marketing where one person refers 5 others, who further refer 5 more people.• Tweetdeck: Do you have trouble remembering what message you sent to your friend yesterday? With tweetdeck, it is easy to organize all your friends, their messages and your replies in one screen. You can create a personal dashboard and can directly tweet from there.• Tweetmanager: Simplify your tweets with this twittermanager. You can track and follow other twitter users by providing your desired keywords. You can even send a mass tweet to 1000 users at a single time. You can even set up canned responses that can be sent to anyone who sends a tweet to you.• Tweetlater: You can do a lot with tweetlater. You can save hours of typing by saving and reusing your tweets. You can automate the process of sending welcome DMs to recent followers, something like – “Thank you for following. Here is something that you can use…” You can give away some tip that is useful to the follower.• Twitter friend adder: You can use one of the many twitter friend adders. I recommend the one from livelybrowser. If you are using this, then you can safely add up to 50 friends every day. Even if you are able to do only 30 a day, you can get 900 new friends every month. These applications make twitter marketing even more exciting. However, there is one thing that you must keep in mind. Use twitter for normal conversation and not for sending your site url. This is a bad practice and is called spamming. You can send your url only when you are announcing an offer or promotion. Spamming can lose you a lot of followers. To further multiply your followers, create multiple twitter accounts. If one account gives you 300 followers a month, 15 accounts will give you 4500 followers in a month. Now that is quite substantial for a start.Read a full insiders review here turbo cash generator reviewRead a full insiders review here turbo cash generator scamRead a full insiders review here turbo cash generator

How The Dating Game Works On Twitter

November 9, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

Dating on Twitter is one of the newest trends to appear in the social networking universe. While it is an attractive concept to many, there are certain rules which should be followed to guarantee both your safety and your success.

One of the main Twitter applications for dating is radaroo which creates love matches in less than 140 characters. The same as other dating sites, you create a profile on Radaroo using a brief formula. Radaroo helps you get to know one another by connecting you on social media sites such as Twitter. The information that is placed in the profile is also sent to your Twitter followers in the event one of your followers may be interested. It’s because of that a conservative approach is recommended when dating on Twitter.

Twitter Dating Rules

* Use Direct Messaging: Use direct messaging for private or intimate conversations to keep other Twitter users from viewing them.

* Tweet Nothings: If you are going to send your love interest ?tweet nothings? use discretion with what you say because your Twitter stream is available for the world to see.

* Build Your Network Slowly: Although you may be anxious to meet a lot of people and find someone who is compatible, remember to build your social network slowly. A sudden rapid influx of Twitter numbers will be interpreted as spam. Instead build your numbers gradually by balancing the number of your followers with the number of people that you follow.

* Expand Your Circle: Although Twitter makes it easy to find people to follow, it is best to find people to follow who have similar interests to your own. This will avoid a lot of problems in the future when using Twitter dating. You can check out sites like TwitsLikeMe and TwitterLocal to find people with similar interests or who are in your local area.

* Adding a Date?s Followers: One word about adding your date?s followers. Don?t. Unless you have struck up a friendship with a follower, you should not assume that you are instantly part of your date?s past. Use proper etiquette and take the time to get to know your date and give them some personal space.

* Avoid Tweeting Your Breakup: If you go through a breakup when Twitter dating, avoid bashing your partner on Twitter. Not only does it make your partner look bad it will also make you look bad to other Twitter users who may be interested in you.

Twitter Dating Apps

In addition to following a few rules for Twitter Dating, there are a few Twitter apps besides Radaroo that can help you find someone who is compatible.

* Bubble: This is an application that analyzes other user tweets and matches the tweet with other users based on the content.

* TwitCrush: TwitCrush is another application with which you can express a crush and receive information from those that have a crush on you. The app also gives you information on the crushes of other users.

Twitter is a wonderful way to find someone who is compatible without being part of an actual dating website however, when it comes to Twitter Dating it is best to play it safe by using proper etiquette before sharing information that cannot be taken back.
