The Person You Can be Without Bingeing

I am a completely different person now than I was while I was compulsive eating. I went from a person who declined every invitation to a person that finally enjoys hanging out with people again. From a person that hardly ever laughed to a person that has regained my personality. From a person that would be embarrassed to walk next to people my own age in fear that they would make fun of me because I was overweight to a person that smiles at people my own age because I actually like myself and don’t compare myself to anyone else. From a person who didn’t have an interest in meeting new friends to someone that has made great new friendships. From a person that was completely miserable with every aspect of myself to a person that loves myself so much.
I’ve realized how strong I really am and how determined and focused I still remain in my true desire to help others that suffer from compulsive eating. It really isn’t just about me at all – It’s about the lives that I can change. It’s about the emails that tell me what an inspiration I am. It’s everything that I’ve ever been passionate about doing.
It has been a very gradual process, but I am a firm believer that slow and steady is the way to go. I’ve really built a stable foundation underneath me and I can honestly say that compulsive eating never crosses my mind. Not ever. I get emails from people all of the time that ask if I ever compulsive eat or even think about bingeing. The answer is no. Compulsive eating was what used to define me and I never want to go back there again. I never want to go through the struggles and trying times of food being my best companion.
I feel like I finally know how non-bingers think about food because I have joined that category. Finally after over eight years of trying to find a way out. I get emails from people wanting to know if I ever eat any of the foods that I used to binge on. With the exception of fast food (I never eat fast food anymore), I eat everything that I used to binge on occasionally. I only say occasionally not because I’m afraid I will binge on that food, but because I have a whole different outlook on my life and my mindset is completely different. It is only by choice that I do not eat a lot of my former compulsive eating foods. It is solely my preference to focus on eating healthy foods that will provide nourishment for my body. I do not like the way that I feel when I eat junk and therefore, I don’t buy it. It’s nonexistent in my house and pretty much in my whole life because I never even crave it.
Now, I want you to know that I do not tell you this to brag. I do not think that I am better than anyone. I’ve been where each of you is right now and I have a tremendous amount of respect for the trials that you face with food. It’s a hard place to be when compulsive eating controls your whole life. So, why do I tell you this then? I tell you this because I want you to know that there is so much for you to look forward to. There is a whole life out there for you that you haven’t even experienced because compulsive eating is holding you back. My days are no longer filled with darkness, instead my days are brighter than ever and I want that so badly for each of you. I’m so excited for you to see what the other part of life can be like.
I want you to think about your life right now – What do you wish you could do but do not do because of compulsive eating? Perhaps it’s due to the weight that you’ve gained while compulsive eating over the years. Or it might just be the simple fact that you don’t feel good about yourself and you just want to hide from the world.
What activities has compulsive eating stolen from you?

What goals did compulsive eating take away from you?
Finally, the most important question of all, what are you going to do for yourself today?
Learn to focus on yourself for once. Even though you have chosen a long road that will have many obstacles, you are still persevering and trying not to let any setbacks keep you down. Most likely you are harder on yourself than anyone else is. Why not start praising yourself for all that you’ve done? So what if you had a hard day yesterday, are you going to dwell on it or are you going to pick yourself back up and keep fighting for what you truly want?
Today do something good for yourself. Something that shows that you are going to try to be more accepting of yourself. What about buying a new outfit so that you don’t have to feel frumpy with your current clothes? Buy yourself something you feel good wearing. Maybe you would prefer to do a random act of kindness – that always makes me feel good about myself. Another option is to pamper yourself by getting a massage, a facial, a manicure, or a pedicure. If it’s been awhile since you’ve seen your friends, why not get some friends together and catch up? Just do yourself a favor by doing something for you that will put a smile on your face.
When I broke out of my shell and started doing things that made me feel good about myself, I noticed my whole outlook on life in general looked better. I didn’t focus on what was wrong with me. I didn’t beat myself up over the things that I did not have the ability to change. Instead, I was more positive and felt like the battle to beat compulsive eating was more attainable than ever. I felt a new confidence come over me and I wanted to push myself to the limits to see what I could accomplish. Honestly, for the first time in my life, I knew deep down inside me that I would beat Compulsive Eating Disorder. I just had a gut feeling… and my feeling was right because I’ve been binge-free for nearly three years now.
As you know, there are struggles with everything in life, but I want you to know that the reward of beating compulsive eating outweighs any of the hard times you may experience. I can’t wait until you surprise yourself with things that you didn’t think were possibly because of compulsive eating. It’s really such an amazing feeling!

How I Run Our Virtual Company From My IPhone in About 30 Minutes a Day

In about 30 minutes a day I can run my entire company, Jet Set Life, from my iPhone. I’ll admit in advance, that most of the set up work to do this took hours of pre-planning, but once that’s done you’re pretty much good to go. In this post, I’ll briefly explain the macro view of how I do things, just to give you an idea of how you can implement the same procedures.
General
1. Processing My Email – I use the pre-loaded iPhone e-mail app and have it set to push from my G-mail account. I have two virtual assistants that shield me from 99% of emails that come in for me. I set a 5 sentence limit on my email responses. So, this process usually takes me about 5-7 minutes per day.
2. Managing Virtual Assistants – I have two VA’s in the Philippines that are outstanding. To manage their projects and our communications I use an app called Note Master. This app allows me to sync with the Google docs that I created for them. They each have two simple documents. The first document is called the “Master List” which is where I have identified their daily tasks and projects that I want them to do. The second doc is called the “Communication Log” which is used for our daily conversations and the random questions that occasionally come up. Each morning I open up the Note Master App and tell it to sync with my Google Docs. I then review only one doc, the “Communication Doc”, to see if there are any questions or concerns that I need to personally handle. There rarely are any. This takes me about 5 minutes.
3. Managing My Web Developer – I have an amazing web developer that I do roughly the same process with using the Note Master app. In his case, “The Master List” serves as the place that I add ideas of how I want to develop the site and “The Communication Log” functions the same way as above. Again, I only review the “Communication Log” for any questions that he has. As long as I’m clear in my instructions in the “Master Doc” there usually aren’t any questions. This process takes me about 5 minutes.
4. Voice Memos – If I find that I can’t communicate quickly and clearly to my VA’s, Web Developers or answer emails in less than 5 sentences I’ll use the “Voice Memo” pre-loaded app. I’ll simply record a better description of what it was that I was trying to say in the communication log. This takes me about 1-2 minutes and is only used occasionally.
5. Managing Multiple Projects – I manage all my projects with an app that’s designed with the “Getting Things Done” philosophy called Things. I only allow myself to work on three projects at any given time. Just three. When more projects come up I simply get them out of my head and on to a separate list inside of the “Things” app called “on deck”. Each morning I only look at the 3 simple projects that I’m working on and choose just 3 “mission critical actions” that I want to do that day towards completing those projects. This process takes me about 10 minutes.
Total Time – Roughly 30 minutes!
Crutch Activities
The following are crutch activities that I do when I’m bored, want to zone or just want to convince myself that I’m actually doing something productive when in reality I’m just being busy.
1. Facebook App – My VA approves all my friends and deletes the prickly hug crap. So, the only thing that’s left for me to do is post a status update. This takes me about 2 minutes.
2. Twitter App – I post the same status update on Twitter as I have on Facebook so whenever I make a Facebook update I simply use the cut and paste feature built into the iPhone to post it to Twitter. I found that the easiest app to do this with is the Twittelator App. This takes me about 1 minute (maybe less).
4. Word Press – I use this app to capture random ideas for future blogs. It has an option to save it locally on the iPhone or upload it directly to word press as a draft. The newer version actually allows you to publish your blog directly to word press from your iPhone. It’s hard to quantify how long it takes me to do this, because I use it whenever I’m feeling an “inspired action”.
3. A Small World – I wish I could share this one with you, but ASW is by invite only. ASW is a really cool social networking site that’s primarily targeted at travelers. I use the app just to check my ASW emails. I generally have only one or two emails per week and use the five sentence max rule for my replies. This takes me about 5 minutes.
So, all in all some days may take me 15 minutes and other days may take me 45 minutes but I probably average about 30 minutes per day Monday- Friday (and never on weekends)

There is this small section at the bottom of every email that you send and called the signature. Of course you know it! Your name, address, phone and other contacts are there right. Add your blog address too! That’s a free continuous advertising tool that you can benefit from.

3-Â Â Â Web 2.0 anyone?: – That’s another name for the social networking mega trend that is spreading on the internet like wildfire! Face book, My space, Squidoo, Dig, linkedin, Fubar, deliciousio, Buzznet and hundreds more. These social networking sites are just stacked full of people who want to see what others got! Every time you make an entry in your blog, share it with minimum 5 social websites! Just open accounts in 5 to 10 social networking sites and post in parallel with you blog. Don’t forget to link to your blog!

4-Â Â Â Using blog directories:- Think of it this way, in this age, the internet is full of millions and millions of websites, blogs, social sites, forums, e-zines, article directories and the list goes on. Because of this, thousands of directories have been set up to lead people to these blogs, social sites, forums, e-zines, article directories etc. Yes you got it! Blog directories. Include your blog in blog directories, but wait there are so many. Pick the directories that rank high in Alexa ranking. Download Alexa toolbar to help you determine which ones rank higher than others.

5-Â Â Â Use newsletters to promote your blog: – You can actually do this in 2 ways. The first one is that many newsletters are looking for good and unique content. If you have good and unique content in your blog, a lot of these newsletters will gladly use your blog entries as content for their periodical mailings. Of course, they will reference the content back to your blog. The other way is to own a mailing list yourself and use your blog’s content as the newsletter’s content mentioning the blog with every mailing of course!
