Is Social Media a Time Waster? be Purposeful With Your Time

November 20, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

Some people think Facebook, is a waste of time. And it may be – If you’re inclined to waste time. You do not need to be if you learn to use it correctly. There are plenty of less vocal people who believe StumbleUpon is for amateur sharers. And of course there is the big camp of people who think all social media, including blogging and social bookmarking, is a huge waste of your resources that you won’t get anything back from. What’s so often missed here is that, under different circumstances, the view of tools as useful and useless is right. A powerful weapon in the hands of a novice is ineffective. Seriously though, it’s always your choice whether to be a novice or to learn more. It’s much savvier to say you don’t know how to use Facebook for business, and then find out, than it is to claim it’s a time waster when you’re playing the Zombie game and bothering your co-workers. The easiest way to overcome the lazy potential factor in any social media tool is to limit the amount of time you spend on it. If you have 15 minutes to get everything you need during a trip to the grocery store, the way you spend your time differs greatly. You’ll bring a list; think ahead to how to most efficiently cruise the aisles, etc. On the other hand, if you are taking a leisurely trip that’s not needed, you tend to browse and look at things you normally wouldn’t buy, not to mention spend too much. Plan your trips to social media sites the same way. You can always come back to play Scrabble or chat with friends, after you’ve finished your work. I liken the use of Social Media to the use of the telephone (Yes, the internet too, but that’s so obvious that the point is still missed. But heck, if you were smart enough to catch that, I guess you can skip to the end.) You can use the telephone for dating (phone chat rooms), to waste time (gossiping with a friend), to solidify a relationship (calling a friend just to say hello), to touch base (let your mother know you’re alive), and yes, for business too (call instead of driving over and having a meeting, connect with a client, check up on a vendor, ask a colleague a question, network, etc.). It’s up to you how you want to use Facebook, or del.icio.us, or MySpace or Furl or any Social Media tool. If other people think it’s a waste of your time, let them. They are not the ones who have to live with your profits and losses at the end of the quarter. There’s plenty of information about how to use Social Media Optimization for business, Facebook in particular. A lot of it is free. If that’s what you’re interested in doing, don’t let the “time waster”; scare throw you off – go out there and find out for your self what the best tips are and test them. Believe your own results, that is the rule of online search engine marketing

Making Money Using Twitter – Tweet Your Way To The Top “>

November 15, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

Twitter is a global phenomenon with hundreds of thousands of people joining it every month, that is hundreds of thousands of eyeballs that you have the chance to get to your blogs or websites!

As with anything online then you need to make sure you are not spamming the site, the internet certainly does not need any more spammers! But I’m going to teach you in this guide how to go about it the right way and be seen as a trusted advisor rather than a ruthless salesman.

It will require some work, this is not some spammy automatic traffic system that you can turn on and forget about – then again neither is it low quality spammy traffic (if you do it right). Using these techniques you can get high quality, qualified traffic eagerly heading over to almost any link that you send.

Forget open rates on email messages, in Twitter every message is already ‘opened’ for your audience to see!

Let’s get straight into this guide by talking about exactly what Twitter is…

To your profits!

What is Twitter?

Unless you have been living under a digital rock for the past year or so then you can’t help but notice the meteoric rise of Twitter into the public limelight, it is being talked about everywhere now!

Almost every blog has applications active for it, the news adores it, people are addicted to it, and as always, new ways to market with it are born.

For instance Namecheap, a popular domain registrar, did a Christmas competition where they would ask a question every hour on Twitter, and the first couple of people who gave the correct answer as a reply in Twitter would get a free domain registration. I know this bagged them a lot of followers, which is a captive audience they can now market to again and again!

So what is Twitter?

Well the owners say:

“Twitter is a service for friends, family, and co–workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?”

But Wikipedia gives us a clearer idea with its definition:

“Twitter is a social networking and micro-blogging service that allows its users to send and read other users’ updates (known as tweets), which are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length.”

So it is a micro-blog where you make micro-blog posts called tweets. Its popularity stupefies most people, you either love it or you hate it, and most of the world still cannot understand why anybody would want to know that you are ‘having breakfast’ or any of the incredibly mundane things that people post.

Yet it does have a silver lining, ’simplicity’ is a word I see the guys behind Twitter use a lot, and that is definitely part of the appeal, no groups, no clicking around constantly to find things, nobody changing the text to huge red letters as they type…

Just a window when you go in where all the messages pop up so you can see what you want to read, and the length of them (140 characters) makes people get to the point quickly!

How To Get A Free BlackBerry Storm-VERY EASY!

November 11, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

Believe it or not, there are many websites that actually make you pay before they tell you how to get a free BlackBerry Storm. Yes it’s disturbing but this is life.

Here’s a little bit of information about the BlackBerry Storm (because I simply love this phone) and because it makes getting a free BlackBerry Storm much more outstanding.

Because of the Storm’s glossy touch-screen, many individuals like to compare it to the iPhone from Apple. However, these phones are entirely different.

The only similarities between the two that really stand out are:

1. Both phones come with black casing

2. Both phones have touch-screen capabilities.

Regardless, there is much more to the BlackBerry Storm. One example of a difference between the two is a soft keyboard on the BlackBerry Storm.

The BlackBerry Storm requires you to press down on the screen in order to choose an option or type. The screen gives slightly and the default sound of the press is a clicking sound.

Many of my co-workers like the feel of the phone because it is not like typing on a glass table (can you say…iPhone?) Also, some of the applications that I use with my, free BlackBerry Storm are listed below.

Viigo

Viigo is an RSS reader. That means you have a shortcut to see all of the information you would like to see on your favorite sites in real-time anywhere and anytime.. It also lets you send Twitter updates right from RSS feeds that you want to let your Twitter buddy’s (or gals) know about.

Google Maps

A must for your free BlackBerry Storm. If you haven’t used Google Maps, you’re missing out! Google has a great map program to get you from point A to Point B anytime! It includes an update on the traffic surrounding you as well as satellite views of your location and others. I could write forever about Google maps.

TalkLock

This app will deactivate your screen when talking on the phone. This is a great app for preventing any of those accidental hang-ups (like when your cheek presses against the phone. Or is that just me?)

Slacker

Slacker Internet radio client for your BlackBerry Storm gives you more than 100 stations for free.

Poynt

Poynt is a local search service: search for business, movie search, and a ‘map this search’ function. This is the main 3 characteristics of this app. However, it is not limited to these 3 options.

All of this information is pointless unless you know how to get a free blackberry storm. . The information found here about the free BlackBerry Storm is greate. It requires you to enter a valid email address and complete a brief survey on the next page. It’s really that simple.

Jay is an expert on getting lots of free stuff on the internet. To order your free BlackBerry Storm. Get your free blackberry storm here!

You simply need to enter a valid email address and complete a short survey on the next page. You can read more about How To Get A Free Blackberry Storm here!

Twitter the next revolution of staying connected?

November 5, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

What is Twitter.com? Why is there so much fuss being made about this innocuous website? And why is Barack Obama such a big fan of it? In short, this website allows friends, family members, colleagues and other acquaintances to keep in touch with each other and know what they are up to by answering one seemingly innocent question: What are you doing? When people start replying to this question, you would be able to know exactly where they are and what they are up to.

So why exactly do we need to use Twitter.com? Well, for one thing, it would be nice to know what your friends and family members are doing. For another, if in case you come to know that they are doing something fun, you can join them. Another reason for using Twitter is that timely updates from family and friends are always meaningful. An anxious mom of a college kid would want to know what her son or daughter is up to. Twitter is an easy way to keep track of the activities of teenagers. Tweets are instant messages of up to 140 characters in length

Twitter is so much fun and so easy to use. All you need is a login ID or an e-mail address. You can start making posts whenever you feel like doing so. You can keep track of your colleagues and in case you come to know that they are late for some presentation, the information could come in very handy for you. You can join your friends on the party circuit if you come to know through this great social networking site that they are partying. You can stay connected and keep track of your friends, family and co-workers or you can decide to stop following them whenever you feel like doing so.

Twitter also allows you to set quiet timings for yourself so that you are not interrupted. This comes in very handy whenever you just need some time for yourself. This site not complicated at all. You can even access it through your mobile phone. You need not worry about updating it every day. You can post whenever you wish. Twitter is a website which gives you complete control over the information you wish to upload. You won’t have to worry about information overload while using Twitter. In fact, it is the very antithesis of information overload. You can keep control over what you want others to see.

Twitter.com is a website which is very exciting. The experience you get while using Twitter is just awesome. You can ensure that your near and dear ones always know what you are up to and vice versa. You can also find out what your peers and co-workers are doing. You can always ensure that you are never out of the loop. In this world, which is so fast-paced, don’t you think Twitter is the best thing since sliced bread? You can keep in touch with just a few clicks. Isn’t that great news? So what are you waiting for? Get connected and stay connected! Be aware of what your near ones are doing without leaving your seat.

Barack Obama was able to connect with all of those people in USA and even had different ID’s for different states. With these different ID states Barack Obama was able to say what he is going to do for each state. Important news within political war was updated almost instantly on Twitter.

So what about Internet Marketers? Well Internet Marketers are always looking for potential customers who are interested in their products and services. So what can be of a better advantage than to be exposed to a mass audience who have different interests and hobbies, where you can pick at each category and market effectively.

Best Twittering Tips On How To Twitter Using Twitter Tools

October 31, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

A glance on what is Twitter. Twitter is a service for friends, family, and co-workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?

This network is one of many ways for you to meet yourself online. Twitter asks you things like “What are you doing?” which gets us thinking about what I’m actually doing right now. Typically, we don’t realize what we’re doing or thinking until we’re asked, at which point we’re compelled to think about it, even if the asker was in fact a social networking site.

In March 2009, a Nielsen.com blog ranked Twitter as the fastest-growing site in the Member Communities category for February 2009. Twitter had a monthly growth of 1382%, Zimbio of 240%, followed by Facebook with an increase of 228%.

Because of such a high popularity that Twitter has created, people are constantly looking for a way on how to twitter, some twitter tips, who is the best twitter which in this case twitter refers to a Twitter user. Some programmers even created software that is refer to as twitter tools. Unofficially, twitter is a word now, where twittering is known as the verbs.

Now, I’m going to talk about the misuse of Twitter, the misuse of twitter tools to be exact. There is some software that let you automate your tweet. Well, a lot of people use this kind of software to pretend friendly which is actually good but they are using it the wrong way or maybe the worst way.

What I’m talking about is they are abusing twitter using the tools; all they are twittering about is sales, sales, and sales. Some even use automated Direct Messages to instantly message you when you follow them. Now let me show you how to not twitter your account to dead with messages will look like this:

1. Hello there, thanks for the follow. Want to know how to earn $576K within a year online? Check this out. (They will put a link that leads to their capture page or some even worse to their affiliate page.)

2. Hi there, do you want to make money online? This is the best marketing system ever. Don’t believe it, just see it. (Another stupid looking link)

Now I was using that kind of way to market my business too which is absolutely wrong, and I changed. Some of you may be doing that kind of way too, but you’re reading this article which makes you better because you found a way to change and you want to change. Just take a look at the twitter tips I provided using twitter tools to automate your message and tweet but better:

1. Hello there my friend. Many thanks for the follow, are you on facebook? Let’s connect there too. (Then put a link to your facebook)

2. Hi there buddy, great knowing you. It’s so great that I just met a wonderful new friend today. You, let’s talk again.

There it is, it’s actually quite simple and that’s what you want, simple and friendly to the point that they won’t be afraid to talk to you. Now you have learned how to twitter well and survive in the stupid world outside that is full of useless tips and maybe hazardous to your health as a twitter. Now let’s do some twittering.

The next lesson on how to twitter well will be out tomorrow, I’ll be writing and make videos once a day so stay tune. You can be the first to reach my lessons, watch the video version, and know more about me directly by subscribing to my blog or visiting it, http://feedburner.google.com/fb/a/mailverify?uri=TantawiSBlog&loc=en_US

How To Use Twitter As A Great Writing Exercise While Learning

October 29, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

One of the latest social networking phenomenons is Twitter. It seems to be on the mind of every celebrity, politician, student, business owner, and social maven.

If you aren’t aware of what Twitter is, here is a brief description. Twitter lets you post (the catch is 140 characters total or less) what you are doing, thoughts on a subject, a plug for a product, or a hello to your friends. You follow Twitter users and they can follow you as well.

Here is where I have found a new use of the site. One of the exercises I am currently teaching is how to say what you need to in articulate sentences while still staying in the 140 character restriction.

Yes, there are ways to circumvent the limitations such as using u for you or 4 and not 4 but when you can get a full impact to the reader without having to abbreviate your thoughts, you have learned a valuable tool.

When you speak or write the key is to keep the attention of those that you are communicating with. We often find ourselves endlessly explaining something that could be stated in more concise patterns.

The exercise is can be advantageous for the sports commentator that has to get his point across between each pitch of a baseball game or in between downs of a National Football League broadcast. It can help somebody on a job interview think faster and better their choice of words. Maybe you are a business owner and need to get the attention of a future client in a couple of sentences, or you are writing a headline for a blog post.

Whatever the reason why not try this. Think of a message you want to get across to friends, family, co-workers, and so on. Start to write the contents in Microsoft Word. When you have finished check the character count and if it is over 140 try to condense it without using abbreviations and losing the meaning of your thoughts. The next thing you can do is to take something that you have already posted or written that is over 140 characters and see if you can truncate this as well. It is not always feasible to be effective with a word or character limitation but for practice it can only benefit your speaking and writing capabilities today, tomorrow, and further down the road. What have you got to loose but a few words. Good luck!

Twitter is an Effective Tool for Internet Marketers

October 26, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

What is Twitter? Well, on the Twitter login page it is introduced as: a service for friends, family, and co-workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?

The concept of Twitter at first glance appears to offer a very unique method of communicating with people for casual banter. However, if you are marketing in any way on the Internet, this can be a powerful platform for providing information and for generating traffic.

When entering a message (known as a Tweet), the user is forced to communicate effectively, because the content is limited to 140 characters. It does not take long to figure out how to concisely get your Tweet across.

If Twitter is new to you, perhaps you have not yet grasped its true potential. It definitely has to be one of the best free traffic generators on the Internet. Its simplicity and accessibility has made this tool extremely attractive to over two million users, and that figure seems to be growing exponentially.

Once you register to participate on Twitter (http://twitter.com), you will begin to follow other Twitterers. But, the real key for you as a marketer is to generate your own followers. Thus, giving you the opportunity to get your message out quickly and easily.

As with any marketing headline, the goal of the Tweet is to capture the readers attention and lead them to where your moneymaker content is located (sales page, opt-in, article, etc). Within your 140 characters you hopefully entice the reader and provide a short hyperlink.

Beyond the linked message area, the perks of this site are multifaceted. The page begins with an automatic welcome that introduces you to the reader and invites them to become a follower. Next, in a personal information area in the upper right corner of the page you can embed a link to a web page and provide a brief bio.

Of course, if you are going to encourage folks to follow you (or to retain followers), your Tweets need to offer value. For the Internet marketer there can sometimes be a fine line between responsibly leading someone to more information or using a platform to blatantly spam an unwanted message.

Take the opportunity to promote your Twitter page whenever possible. Place your Twitter link on your website, blog, ezine, article signature box, and so on. For example, this is my link: http://twitter.com/davidschaefer, and I encourage you to become a follower.

Twitter.com includes a few more features not mentioned here – just visit the help section. And, everyday creative entrepreneurs are offering new products and services to independently support and expand the use of Twitter. The most important point is to take advantage of Twitters simplicity, effectiveness, and potential marketing reach.
