Twitter Profile Branding

November 6, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

Twitter has become one of the most popular social networking sites today, overshadowed only by biggies like Facebook and MySpace. It is no wonder that many people are coming aboard Twitter to promote their business. As Twitter would say it, many entrepreneurs are Tweeting they way to online visibility and hence, success.

If you are on Twitter too, what you really need to have is a good Twitter profile and then you need to brand it. The first part is relatively easy and does not take much time. Everyone knows how to make a profile on a social networking website. Just be true to the details and do not go overboard with the hype or the sales pitch and it would count as a good business profile. There are various customizable options on Twitter itself. You could use these to make your profile look different. And if it is some real difference that you are hankering for, you could go for some patches and downloads that are compatible with Twitter. You could find these by conducting relevant searches on popular search engines.

You need to keep your business profile page different but at the same time subtle. Over-the-top does not work in today’s times, and that applies to Twitter profiles too.

But, what really takes time and effort is the branding part. Branding is where you are making your business visible. Real branding is when your business becomes popular not just on Twitter but even outside it. Remember that branding is not just about the colors that you use and the font that you use; it has more to do with the recall value of your business name itself. When you are on Twitter, Twitter business branding will refer to the way in which your Twitter account name appears and becomes popular.

There is much to be gained through Twitter business branding. A lot of enterprising folk are selling these in the same way they sell domain names. They build a profile page, brand it and when it becomes popular, they sell it for thousands of dollars. This takes some time and effort, but it does give a very rich dividend at the end of the day.

One way to go about Twitter business branding is to first establish a website on Twitter and then use the same look and feel as the corporate website. For example, if you have a business website that’s named http://www.xyz.com, you make a Twitter profile page that’s names http://www.twitter.com/xyz and then give this page the same appearance as the corporate page. This way, you are making your Twitter page an extension of your existing page.

The benefit of this is that people can search your Twitter page with your business brand name. They are able to find things more easily and also the recall value of your brand increases.

But you need to be quick about this. Time is of the essence. If you have a popular business that’s not on Twitter yet, someone might use your brand name on Twitter. This is a clear case of plagiarism, but you can’t help it once it is done. The best thing for you is to realize the importance of Twitter business branding right now and go about it when there is still time.

3 Free Traffic Techniques You Can Use to Gain Traffic

November 2, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

We all love traffic to our websites, besides if it’s free it makes it all the more exciting and worthwhile! Now there are three I am going to talk to you today about. These are ones I use personally and regard as being fantastic sources of traffic and if done correctly can produce traffic for you in just the same way.

Youtube – This is such a popular site; this is where some people spend their free time just watching videos! So if you can produce a couple of videos a week and you get say 3 views a day then your looking at in excess of 60 potential visitors a month, plus this will grow and grow, some videos may gain 10 views a day. Another great aspect is that this site is owned by Google, so when someone types something into the search engine your very likely if its relevant to get a high ranking for that video.

Twitter – The latest social craze! A lot of the traffic that comes to my blog is from Twitter, if you follow and target people that “may” be interested in what you do/sell. When they see a ‘Tweet’ from you they could click the link in your tweet and you’re sending them wherever you want to. Again a fantastic way of getting people to your site and for free! Twitter is a free service so go set yourself up an account.

Facebook – The current Social networking giant, millions of people use Facebook and rightly so, I personally think its fantastic. Now I have two profiles on Facebook, I don’t like to mix business with my family/friends. Alot of people that speak to me say they hold back because they don’t want their family and friends to see what they sell or don’t think they should. Well that gets around it doesn’t it? You can connect with the people you like on your business profile and keep family and friends separate. Also you can set up various business profiles that people can become “fans” of. This generates more exposure and more links back to your sites, and this all free!

Well those were my main three I personally recommend, there are others but if you get started with these just to see results then maybe you could look into other forms of free marketing afterwards.

11 Twittering Rules On How To Twitter Well, And Earn Money

November 1, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment

Twitter has taken the world by storm, faster than a F1 racing car. The entire major news channels, TV channels, celebrities, businesses now are also on Twitter. Not forgetting the individuals and Internet Marketers who are spending enormous amounts of time twittering or tweeting. But most of them don’t know how to twitter well; twittering needs skills just like marketing does. There are even a statistics on who is the most followed Twitter user in the world. I’m going to reveal some Twitter tips on how to twitter well, so that you won’t be hate on Twitter.

  • Always provide solid information every time you tweet, such as big sales, free gifts at this website. Providing pictures are better.
  • You should find people who share similar interests to you, if you’re into Network Marketing, finding people with the same interests would be great. Use Twitter Search or Twellow for that.
  • Doing things online are actually virtually real, you should try to imagine you are at a party or business mixer. Social Networking is a virtual event; try to be friendly just like you would in a real life.
  • Be yourself.

Now, I’ve seen a lot of good things and also bad things on Twitter. Some of the bad things are caused by the Internet Marketers who are chomping at the bit thinking Twitter is going to make them rich beyond their wildest dreams. They just don’t know how to twitter well, I’ve followed many Internet Marketers and have been pitched and approached by every get-rich-quick scheme or new MLM venture, and even the next big thing projects.

What they don’t know is that 90% of the people think you are spamming them. You need to know how to twitter well, to promote your business. I’m sure giving a link to a landing page you own is absolutely not the way. Below is the way to let Twitter work for you:

  • Do not try to pitch your business with your Twitter Profile, Automated Direct Messages, and Tweets. Those are for you to build your credibility and reputation online, don’t sound like you need cash badly.
  • Always follow people who you feel may be a potential client or prospects for you. But do remember, you only want to follow them and build a good relationship with them, don’t pitch your business on your first tweet.
  • Always provide your information about your business or product through a blog, article, press release or even squidoo.
  • After you have successfully branded yourself as a leader in your field, most Twitter users will eventually be curious about your business, and they will always be able to find a way to your landing page through your blog.
  • Always be available; reply all your Direct Messages and replies tweet to you.

I have said that some of the bad things are caused by many of the Internet Marketers, but some of them are also caused by the misuse of Twitter tools. Nowadays, there are so many twitter tools or applications available online, free and paid. Some of the Internet Marketers are greatly misusing this. Here is why:

  • Automated Welcome Direct Messages

This is actually a very powerful feature available in most of the twitter tools out there. Now, I have received too many messages that say, “Thanks for following, want to make $576K in a year? Click here (link)”. Now those kinds of messages are the messages that I won’t even read. They are pitching me on the first day I knew them.

Always use friendly and non-pitching welcome messages, “Hi, great to be friends. Let’s talk further.” That’s enough. People will be more than glad to talk to you if you’re not selling them anything.

  • Automated Tweets

Some Twitter users that has 500 followers or below 1000 followers, and they are making automated tweets for more than 20 times a day. That’s totally ridiculous. The less your followers are means the slower your tweets will be replaced by people’s. Now, you don’t want when people clicked on your profile and saw that you are actually tweeting the same content over and over again, and it’s pitching.

You should set your automated tweets properly, set some that will be tweet once a day, a couple which will be tweet once a week. Be creative on tweeting.
