By Anthony Marsh The Internet has made it extremely easy for anybody who is willing to start a blog and use it to garner attention for what they are selling. From teenagers to Fortune 500 companies, many have come to the realization that writing a blog can attract attention and generate a consistent readership and following. Blogs have become excellent vehicles for communicating news, keeping in touch with a large number of fans and customers simultaneously, highlighting expertise, presenting an introduction to a line of products, and delivering fresh content for the search engines. If you’ve never actually published a blog, you will be amazed at how easy it is to get up and running. There are many blogging platforms available like Wordpress or Blogger. These resources allow you to set up an account without cost and be live in a short period of time. These providers offer design templates that you simply choose by clicking on your favorite. You get an administration panel that makes it easy to add features or remove them.
A blog is really one of the simplest ways to start getting a web presence that is available to everyone completely free. You’re not required to pay for the account, the storage, or anything else. In return, the site might include some advertising on your blog, but once you get a feel of things, you can pay a small fee to get this removed. Or, if you have a little bit of technical skills and have a domain name and hosting you can install a blog using wordpress or one of the many other available scripts. Most times the control panel of your web hosting services will allow you to install wordpress with a single click. If not, you can download it at Wordpress and with a little FTP knowledge, install it in 5 minutes or so. It’s really that easy.Don’t allow yourself to be intimidated by a lack of knowledge of computers or the Internet. There is no need to be technically talented at all to start a blog. As you continue to use the blog, you may want to include pictures and videos which may take some learning, but it still is nothing to be intimidated by.
Deliver The GoodsIn the beginning, all you will need to do to start getting visitors is to make sure that you deliver something that is interesting on your blog. If you’re serious in establishing a web presence you’ll want to have a minimum of two blogs. One that shares news specifically about your company, brand and designs. You’ll also want a second one that covers the t-shirt industry and culture with a few plugs and links here and there about your own products, along with some affiliate links to other t-shirt sites. Many first-time bloggers make the mistake of creating a blog that serves as a personal diary, with random posts on a wide variety subjects. While this may be interesting to a small segment of people, it’s not the best choice to bring visitors from the major search engines who prefer targeted content. So, stick with the subject of t-shirts, and develop your content around that niche. You could offer reviews on specific designs and brands, report sales and coupon codes, offer designing tips and tutorials or an endless choice of content. Use your imagination and you’ll come up with a unique vision for your blog that will get the attention you are seeking for your designs and brand.Try to review your posts before publishing to make sure they are relatively free of misspellings and grammatical errors. Try to include titles, subheadings, bulleted lists, and white space to make the copy easy on the eye. Many readers do not want to come into a blog and see a single paragraph written in poor English, no matter how interesting the subject. It’s just too hard to read.Anthony Marsh is the owner of http://www.popularthreadz.com and a half dozen other t-shirt brands. The Internet has made it exceedingly easy for anyone to start a web log (blog) and use it to capture attention. Even teenagers and Fortune 500 companies have discovered the magic of writing a blog to attract attention and generate a consistent readership. At first, all you will need to do to start generating traffic is to make sure that you have great content on your blog. Your blog should have a specific niche that you’ve researched and that can be sure to draw crowds. Many first-time bloggers make the mistake of using the blog as a personal diary, with random posts on various subjects. This may prove interesting to a few people, but it’s not sufficient to draw traffic from the major search engines that like targeted content better. So, pick a niche, and develop interesting content around that niche.
Good informative content on your blog that provides beneficial solutions your readers can use and ideally see immediate positive results from using will do as much to build your traffic as all the SEO tricks in the book. The key is not just getting them there but keeping them there and spreading the word that you are an expert in the niche. Best of all, word of mouth generated traffic is free and the best kind of traffic you can get. So make sure you install and interface like AddTo addtobookmarks so your readers can easily add your blog to their favorite Social Bookmarking site. Those links are another powerful way to generate more free traffic.
Try to review your posts before publishing to make sure they are relatively free of misspellings and grammatical errors. Tips for choosing a theme for your blog
November 3, 2009 by IBI · Leave a Comment
Before choosing a theme, for your blog you should put into consideration the following
•Content
•Audience,
•Colors and Font Size
•Theme Size
1. Content of the Blog
I know you must have heard about the phrase “content is the king”. Whatever your blog is about, content is at the heart of it. It is because of content that people are visiting your blog they need information something unique they are looking for unless you are able to serve them with the content then they will keep coming back otherwise they will stop coming While choosing your theme, please keep a sharp watch on the subject of your content and whether the theme represents all the content that you want to show. Some themes can show static pages, while some can’t. When you want to tell something that does not fall under a specific blog category, for example, about you or about your works and projects, that content is considered as static content. Content of this type is represented in separate pages. So when you plan to display static pages, your theme must be capable of showing them. Otherwise, you will add pages through the WordPress administration panel and they will not even be displayed..
2. Audience
Although there is no strict rule for choosing themes but if you look around, you may see that the appearance of a theme should match with the age of your audience, their mood, and their style. You should choose theme based on the audience you are writing Use your intelligence while choosing a theme according to the audience.
3. Colors and Fonts
Colors are also a very important thing when you consider the mood of your audience, and of course they are also relevant to the content of your blog. Be very careful while mixing up different colors, especially for typeface. A very good color for the font may look very odd if the background color doesn’t match with it. The colors that you choose for your blog will also determine the readability of your content. Font is another issue to consider while choosing themes. Some fancy themes may use a lot of font faces in a theme, but that really degrades the user experience. Whether it’s your own theme or a third-party one, try to use the minimum number of fonts. As far as possible, stay with only one font
4. Theme Size
Many of these themes use graphical content. Some of them style their appearance using just CSS, some use both CSS and Images. If you look around some very popular themes like you will notice that they do the styling entirely using CSS; so they are small in size. Connection, another popular theme, uses a banner that is also very small in size. So you must make sure that your theme is small in size, and easy to load for users having slow Internet connections. However, the fact is that you are not writing a blog for yourself. There will be readers from around the world where high-speed Internet connection is too costly and they depend on dial-up or slow connections. So if your blog takes minutes after minutes to load, the chance is that the viewer will not feel comfortable and will be unlikely to come back to read it. Choose a theme that is decent, easy to navigate, easy to load, and most importantly comfortable to read through.
